Vivien shared a video of what she looked like before and after climbing the famous peak in North Wales, and the results left her pretty shocked. She had quite the journey
A woman recently discovered that hiking in the Welsh mountains can be a thrilling yet unpredictable adventure, after her recent climb up Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon) took an unexpected turn.
Vivien, known as vivien.macx on TikTok, shared her before and after look after her journey up the famous North Wales peak, and the results were quite surprising. Her unique outdoor adventure was filled with unexpected twists and turns as she explored the stunning Welsh countryside.
Alongside the clip, Vivien wrote: “Lol, my smile in the beginning to my shocked face at the end.” The footage reveals that Vivien’s hike began amidst foggy conditions, something that’s been experienced by others before.
She also mentioned that the weather turned incredibly windy and rainy. Vivien confessed she nearly lost her way, and then revealed her appearance at the end of the trek.
To put it simply, she was soaked through, her hair drenched and her expression rather gloomy. It just goes to show how rapidly the weather can shift when you’re out exploring.
Over the video, she humorously wrote: “Did someone say climb Snowdon and get lost and almost die in 70mph wind and rain?” Despite the challenging conditions, she was fine in the end and managed to see the funny side of the situation.
It’s always crucial to exercise caution when venturing into nature; however, it appears that Vivien wasn’t alone during her mountain trek.
Yr Wyddfa, located in Snowdonia, North Wales, is the country’s tallest mountain, standing at an impressive 1,085 metres above sea level. It also holds the title of the highest peak in the British Isles outside of the Scottish Highlands.
Snowdon is recognised as a national nature reserve due to its unique flora and fauna. Those wishing to visit can find it nestled within the stunning Snowdonia National Park.
The mountain is home to several lakes, with Llyn Lydaw being the largest, situated on its eastern side. Historically, the mountain has been referred to as the “busiest in the United Kingdom.”
In 2022, it was reported that a staggering 543,541 walkers had scaled its heights. There are six main routes to the summit, with the most frequented starting in the northern town of Llanberis.
Alternatively, visitors can reach the top via the Snowdon Mountain Railway, which transported 98,567 passengers in 2021. This popular mountain attracts thousands of visitors annually.
During particularly busy periods, such as summer weekends, queues have been known to form at Yr Wyddfa’s summit for access to the summit pillar.
This typically occurs at the steps leading to the trig point; however, it’s still possible to enjoy the summit area without joining the queue.
