A woman has sparked a heated debate after she took to social media to reveal her controversial office lunch – which some people have said is ‘suitable for arrest’
The British public is known for its passion when it comes to discussing a roast dinner.
But the nation found itself embroiled in a fiery online debate after a woman shared her lunchtime meal complete with all the trimmings. During the workweek, you might find yourself daydreaming about a juicy roast chicken, crispy roast potatoes, and generous helpings of gravy that you plan to indulge in on Sunday.
However, one woman argues that the iconic Sunday roast can be savoured any day of the week and at any time. Anya Chappell posted a photo on X, previously known as Twitter, of the roast dinner she brought to work to enjoy during her lunch break. She commented: “Feels illegal on a Tuesday.”

She further explained: “I brought it in from home, put it in a microwave and now I am eating it.” Her plate was loaded with three Yorkshire puddings, roast chicken, carrots, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, and mashed potato, all smothered in gravy.
But her lunch sparked an uproar. “How are you just scranning that in an office on a Tuesday? asked one. Another added: ” questioned one user. Another chimed in: “You are the first person I’ve ever seen with a Sunday dinner at their work desk.”
Another user remarked: “Most people just settle for a pot noodle or a sandwich at their desk. Settle down Nigella.” Yet another added: “A full roast, on Tuesday, at work, by the computer, is utter madness.
“That’s got to stink the office out,” another user pointed out. “If you’ve eaten that in an office you need arresting,” another X user commented. “Needs a disciplinary,” wrote another.
Supporters have rallied around Anya’s unique lunch choice with one fan commenting, “Looking banging, make me one.” Another showed admiration saying, “Full roast at the office on a Tuesday dinner time? I respect it.”
Anya’s own mother also chimed in with skepticism. In an 18 year old social media star’s recent revelation to her 13,000 followers, she quipped: “Mam’s not happy.”
Sharing a mum-daughter exchange screenshot it read: “You got a key? Also, WTF is my dinner doing on Channel 5?”.
The tale even caught the attention of Aunt Bessie’s, who spoke to Wales Online. Claire Hoyle, head of marketing at Aunt Bessie’s, endorsed the idea: “In a world full of routine lunches and mundane mid-week moments, the overwhelming support for a Tuesday roast has demonstrated once again that roast dinners aren’t just for Sundays.”
Continuing, they expressed a zest for life: “Aunt Bessie’s believes in embracing the joys of life, and what better way to do that than with a mid-week feast?”
