Insomnia and being unable to fall asleep can be frustrating and exhausting experiences to deal with – but one woman has shared a ‘magic’ sleep hack that has helped millions of people nod off
A woman has revealed a “magic” sleep hack that’s sending people off to sleep in just a few minutes.
Battling with a few sleepless nights, insomnia or struggling to nod off can be a maddening and wearying ordeal, one that can take its toll on a person’s everyday life. The NHS suggests the odd night of poor sleep shouldn’t typically cause too much concern, “but it can become an issue if a lack of sleep starts to affect your daily life”. It also cautions that long-term sleep issues can “affect our relationships and social life, and leave us feeling tired all the time, eating more and not able to do daily tasks”.
Many are turning to social media for advice and tips, and one woman’s sleep strategies struck a chord with millions on TikTok. In a viral video, now viewed more than 6.8 million times, content creator Olivia Hedlund divulges a technique she picked up from Dr Joe Dispenza, a best-selling author, researcher, lecturer, and corporate consultant renowned for his pineal gland meditation practices, which are designed to help aid relaxation and improve sleep quality.
Laying in bed and speaking directly to the camera, Olivia captioned her video with “sleep hack that works like magic” and said: “If you’re somebody who cannot fall asleep quickly, I have a hack that is going to change your life. I told two of my friends about it, they tried it and said they fell asleep literally instantly.
“It’s a certain breathing technique that I learned from Joe Dispenza and then I tried it before I went to bed and it works so well. It’s basically taking five deep breaths but these breaths are very specifically done.”
Olivia advised viewers to look up Dispenza’s pineal gland meditation online and continued: “You basically take a super slow inhale through your nose and you start clenching your body. You flex your abs and your stomach all the way up to your chest and you literally feel the breath go up your spine until I imagine it in the middle of my head.
“Then you hold it there for as long as you can and then you let it go, and you do that five times… do that five times, you’ll fall asleep immediately.”
People shared their thoughts in the comments section. One person said: “I tried it and thought I was doing it wrong then I did it multiple times it helps!!!” Another was hopeful: “I’ve been trying to fall asleep for the past 2hrs, this better work”, while a third said: “This worked for me actually”.
One person raved: “Pineal gland meditation is my FAVE”, while another shared their success story: “It works. I didn’t sleep for 20 years. Then I watched Dr Joe Dispenza for about three weeks four or five years ago and now I sleep easily every night.”
