A woman who filmed the inside of the Airbnb she was staying in has been told to ‘run’ from the property, as people say it could be ‘cursed’ thanks to one spooky detail
If you’re planning a trip away with some friends, you may have looked into renting an Airbnb instead of a traditional hotel. These rentals often allow you to stay in an entire house for the length of your holiday, meaning you and your friends can all sleep in the same building and can hang out together instead of being in separate hotel rooms.
But one woman got the shock of her life when she and her mates checked into an Airbnb listing last week. Kristen posted a video on TikTok showing the inside of the property, but commenters immediately told her she should pack her things and leave – as they believed the house was “cursed”.
People were convinced the house might be haunted for one particular reason: it looked exactly like the interior of a house from a popular horror video game called Phasmophobia.
In Phasmophobia, a multiplayer game developed by Kinetic Games, groups of up to four players explore haunted houses and other buildings and work together to identify what kind of ghost is patrolling the halls.
And although Kristen was excited to show people just how much her Airbnb looked like the “Tanglewood Drive” level from the spooky video game, commenters told her that she should leave immediately in case the house really is haunted.
To the unassuming, the house doesn’t look creepy at all. In fact, the Phasmophobia level is also designed to look like a regular suburban home, and if you didn’t realise the similarities, you would think the Airbnb was completely normal.
Kristen said in her video: “Guys, our Airbnb looks exactly like Tanglewood Drive from Phasmophobia. Look at this. When I first walked in, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I know this hallway’. It even has the little console place.
“The first bedroom, the second bedroom, even the master bedroom. Inside the master bedroom, it even has the [same] bathroom. And then look at this living room! It looks exactly like it. It even has the kitchen and stuff. It has the garage and the laundry room – it’s so great!”
Commenters on the post were quick to tell Kristen to be careful, especially as the hallway featured a large mirror that could be one of the “cursed” items that feature heavily in the video game.
One person said: “Is this intentional? I don’t think I’d be able to stay there.”
Another added: “It has the cursed mirror!”
Someone else wrote a comment as if they were playing the Phasmophobia game themselves, ruling out certain clues to try and narrow down what spirit was in the house and issuing a chilling message at the end.
They said: “Everyone [is wearing] short sleeves so no freezing temperatures, no ghost orbs on the video either. I assume no EMF because electronic locks and phones would act up. It’s not a Poltergeist because everything on the shelves is really neatly placed. It can only be a Phantom or Deogen. Leave a notebook out to confirm if it’s a Deogen, and if it is written on … Get out while you still can.”
Others said the video would be a “great advertisement” for the upcoming film adaptation of the horror game. However, while it has been confirmed that a Phasmophobia film is coming, there is no release date confirmed yet.
