Woman uses one household item to open stubborn jar without any elbow grease

Struggling to open your pickle jar? One woman demonstrated a super easy trick that requires little effort and certainly no elbow grease using one item in your kitchen already

It’s a common challenge most people face in the kitchen, trying to open a jar without breaking any limbs. Some people might take ages attempting to get into their favourite foods, as well as lot of blood, sweat and tears.

Now it turns out you don’t need any fancy gadgets or a towel for the trick, but just one item you probably already have in your drawers. A woman on TikTok demonstrated a simple life hack – all without breaking a sweat. The user, known as Leyla, who boasts 98,800 followers, didn’t even leave her seat in order to get into her jar of pickles, showing how easy it is after all.

In the clip, which garnered 6,200 likes, she said: “Here’s a little tutorial on how I open my jars.

“So you put it in here the knife, don’t turn it to the side, you turn it away from you. You let some air in…”

Then moments later, you can hear a click as she added: “Just like that and then it opens easily.”

Leyla decided to do a video to help people with the daily struggle. Her caption read: “For everyone asking how I open my jar in every video haha this is how!

“You don’t have to do it this way just showing you how I do it for everyone asking.”

Many people rushed to the comments section to share their surprise at how simple it was. One said: “I do this but not upside down.”

Another added: “I just stab the lid,” while a third chimed in: “Just pierce the lid.” Someone even joked that’s what husbands are for.

Meanwhile someone else said the hack is safer with a spoon rather than a knife.

Anyone who is in a rush to get into a jar knows all so well how frustrating it can be having to use all your willpower to open it.

But to tackle a stubborn jar, first improve your grip with a rubber glove or dish towel, then place the band around the lid.

If the lid is still stuck, you can try to break the vacuum seal, like running the lid under hot water, tapping it with a spoon or firmly slapping the bottom of the jar.

Alternatively you could invest in specific tools for the job, like a jar opener which works its magic within seconds.
