Lyndsey Garvey thought she was on top of her vacuuming routine, doing it every single day as she has a shedding dog – but was left “disgusted” by the mess her cordless vacuum left

Vacuuming can often lead to domestic spats, with the seemingly endless task of lugging a bulky vacuum around the house, hoping it will magically whisk away all the dirt.

For those with modern machines, the weight might be less of an issue, but the chore remains tiresome. Cordless vacuums have become all the rage recently due to their convenience and speed, and they’re a hit among those in compact living spaces or apartments – yet sometimes they just don’t make the grade, particularly for pet owners or big households.

One woman was left utterly “disgusted” by the filth her cordless vacuum missed after she switched back to a corded Shark model, vowing never to return to a cordless option. While someone did mention that “it makes sense that a battery-powered one isn’t as powerful,” the pet owner was shocked at the stark difference.

Lyndsey Garvey believed she had her vacuuming under control, doing it daily because of her shedding dog, but she was ‘disgusted’ to see the amount of grime and fur her old cleaner had neglected to pick up, according to the Manchester Evening News. She was left horrified after her brand new Shark corded vacuum cleaner filled up almost to the top after cleaning just one room.

She shared her shock on a cleaning Facebook group, writing: “I’ve had two different cordless Shark vacuums in the past four years. Switched to a corded one today. This is after hoovering just one room, which was previously hoovered every single day! Disgusted, I’ll never go back to cordless!”

Fellow group members were keen to know more about the new corded vacuum, and she revealed it was from Amazon, currently discounted from £329.99 to £239. “I’ve got the same exact vacuum and the same gorgeous lab,” one person commented. “The best vacuum I’ve had so far, our labs are shedding so much at the moment.”

Another user chimed in: “Cordless aren’t as powerful.” However, another busy mum argued: “The cordless for running around after the toddlers daily and the corded for a deeper clean once a week. It makes sense that a battery-powered one isn’t as powerful? ! I couldn’t live without a cordless again as they are so handy to whip around in a hurry.”
