Woman walking with a baby pram hit by car that mounted curb in horror Ireland crash

By staff21 October 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

A woman who was out walking with her baby has been hospitalised after she was struck by a car that mounted the curb in along the R617 road between Blarney and Tower in Ireland

Authorities have issued an urgent appeal after a woman walking with a buggy was hit by a car that mounted the curb.

The incident unfolded at around 4.30 pm this afternoon along the R617 road between Blarney and Tower in Ireland. The woman, aged in her 30s, and the baby were rushed to hospital in Cork. Her injuries are said to be non-life-threatening, while the infant was found to be completely unharmed, in what was described by a member of the local fire brigade as a ‘miraculous’ outcome.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or was travelling through the area at the time and may have dashcam footage has been urged to speak to the emergency services.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene following a report of a road traffic collision involving a car and two pedestrians, that occurred at Blarney, Co. Cork, this afternoon, Tuesday 21st October 2025, at approximately 4.30 pm.

“The pedestrians, (a woman aged in her 30s, and a male infant) were conveyed to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

“No other injuries were reported at the time. The scene was preserved for technical examination. The road has since reopened. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses – including those travelling in the area at the time who may have dashcam/video recordings.”

Local councillor Damian Boylan said ‘his heart goes out’ to the victim and commended Gardaí and the emergency services for their work this afternoon.

He said: “This was a desperately unfortunate incident; all we can draw from it is that thankfully nobody was killed, but it must have been an utterly frightening experience. My heart goes out to the woman and her family.

“I’m sure Gardaí are conducting a strenuous investigation into the circumstances of the incident this evening.”
