A woman has gone viral on social media after sharing a ‘oddly satisfying’ cleaning hack that requires just three items – and people can’t wait to try it for themselves
A woman has revealed her brilliant trick to make grubby sneakers look as good as new.
There’s a unique joy in unboxing a fresh pair of gleaming white trainers, but that pristine look can fade fast once you hit the streets, battling all sorts of muck and rough ground. Unlike our everyday attire, we can’t just chuck our kicks in the wash and hope for the best. But now, thanks to a TikTok user, there’s an “oddly satisfying” six-step cleaning method being praised as “so good”.
In mere minutes, she transforms her trainers to their former glory. The tip was shared on the popular @ideatimes page, which boasts over 15 million followers and the video alone has amassed more than 534,500 million views – it shows the woman adding toothpaste to a tablespoon before mixing it in a bowl. The clip quickly went viral, attracting over 50,000 views and loads of comments.
Following this, she adds a tablespoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of washing-up liquid into the bowl. She mixes these ingredients until they form a paste.
She then takes a pair of white Nike Airforce trainers and places them in a sink. With a toothbrush, she applies the homemade paste onto the areas she wants to clean, scrubs it in, and then wipes it away with kitchen paper.
“It does the trick,” one person marvelled. “I’ll try it,” chimed in another, while a third added: “It’s so good I tried it and I like.” Bargain hunters will be thrilled to learn that a pack of baking soda can be snagged for a mere 65p at Asda or Tesco, and you can grab a tube of budget-friendly toothpaste for as little as 50p, also available at Asda.
