A woman has received sceptical criticism after sharing her tips on how to pre-make certain parts of Christmas dinner ahead of the big day – including the roast potatoes and veg

As Christmas Day creeps closer, people’s expectations and excitement grows stronger while thinking of everything that comes with it – including the classic Christmas dinner.

The UK public says that roast potatoes are the “most important” part of a Christmas dinner, according to a new poll made by Savanta. And what would a festive feast be without a variety of roasted veg to go with the turkey and stuffing.

But cooking up the grub can take a great deal of time and effort, making the day more stressful that you’d want. To prevent this, mum and internet chef Abeygale shared her ultimate hack on making the day less hectic, but not everyone is convinced by her method.

While sharing her recipes for roasted potatoes and honey mustard parsnips and carrots, Abeygale urged her followers to prepare the vegetables before the big day, leaving you with more time to spend with your loved ones on December 25.

For the vegetables, she cut them up and boiled until you can get a knife through it. Then put them on a tray to cool before seasoning them to your liking along with some oil. Then pop it all in the freezer for an hour before taking the portion out and bagging them up, before storing them in the freezer until it’s time to make Christmas dinner.

Meanwhile for the potatoes, Abeygale boiled and fluffed them up in a pot along with salt, pepper and duck fat before freezing the spuds in a bag when they cooled down. When she later went to cook them, she roasted them from frozen, like you would with pre-bought frozen roast potatoes until they’re golden, turning them after half the time.

In the comments section, some are saying you might as well buy pre-made frozen vegetables and roast potatoes instead of pre-making them.

One sceptical viewer said: “I want to do this a be prepared but I can’t help thinking if I’m going to do this I may as well buy frozen parsnips potatoes etc.” However she was quickly reassured it would be just as good as making it the day of, just with less stress.

“No. I do this all the time with my veg and potatoes (for mash and roast) they taste lovely. They are not the same as tasteless shop frozen,” one person said.

A second person wrote: “I do all my veg Christmas Eve. I put the meat in first thing then the potatoes. I’m not standing all day cooking on Christmas Day.”
