A cleaning expert has revealed her top floor cleaning hacks and people are saying the tennis ball trick is ‘game changing’.
When it comes to cleaning, most of us would leap at the chance for time-saving tips and tricks to keep our homes looking spick and span in less time.
Thanks to a savvy TikToker, many users have been left gobsmacked by some simple hacks that make cleaning a breeze. The user, known as @home-reimagined, offers followers tips on her organisation and cleaning account, aiming to help them transform their homes into organised, peaceful spaces with streamlined tasks.
As she states on her website homereimaginedatx.com, her goal is “creating more time for what truly matters: cherishing moments with your family (and some time for yourself)!” With this in mind, she shared some clever floor cleaning hacks with her 411.7k followers in a recent minute-long video.
Her first tip was a quick win, as she advised her followers: “To get scuffs off your floors, take a clean tennis ball to wipe them up and they’ll be gone in an instant.” This nifty trick demonstrated how the thick felt surface of a brand-new tennis ball could buff away scuffs without causing any damage to the floor.
The cleaning expert dished out her second tip for drab natural wood floors, advising, “If your natural wood floors are getting a bit dull, add some vinegar, a little bit of olive oil with essential oils, or lemon juice – and don’t forget the hot water,” before suggesting to mop in the direction of the wood to restore its gleaming appearance. “If your floors are still a little slick, you can dry them with a microfibre towel,” she continued.
For pet owners plagued by furry tumbleweeds, she revealed a pet-hair hack that’s nothing short of revolutionary: “If you’re sick of pet hairs stuck in your carpet, use a rake. It will loosen up all the hairs stuck in your carpet fibres and scrape it up for you.”
Demonstrating, she left her fans amazed at the amount of hair collected from just one patch. For cleaning enthusiasts losing their momentum, her steamer tip was spot on.
“Refresh your grout with this steamer and all of its attachments,” she explained, showing off the steam’s magic on dingy grout, followed by a satisfying dirt wipe-down for factory-fresh looking tiles. Her last ace trick for sadness-inducing carpets, particularly those harbouring unpleasant odours: “Spray a little bit of baking soda across it, and let it sit for 10 minutes before vacuuming.”
Her followers were head over heels for these tips, amassing a whopping three million plays. Among the admirers was a follower raving about the carpet rake, while another chimed in with an eager “Wow! I need to try using a tennis ball to get scuffs out.”
