Yoane Wissa goes nuclear and takes drastic action to force £35m Newcastle move

Brentford forward Yoane Wissa was not in the Bees’ squad against Nottingham Forest with the west London side retaining a firm stance in the transfer position on the forward

Yoane Wissa has moved to further distance himself from Brentford after missing the side’s opening Premier League match, and deleted any mention of the club from his social media profile. The forward is holding out for a move this summer amid interest from Newcastle United.

Wissa has trained independently of his team-mates aftere impressing his desire to exit the west London club. The striker, who scored 19 goals in the Premier League last season, has just one year remaining his contract. The Bees have continued to block a move with their valuation for the forward having yet to be met. Brentford are said to have asked for £60million for the 28-year-old after rejecting a bid worth up to £30m from Newcastle earlier in the transfer window.

And the latest news has seen any acknowledgement of Brentford removed from Wissa’s Instagram profile. The DR Congo international has blacked out his profile picture and now only has photographs of himself outside of football or from his national side on display.

Brentford boss Keith Andrews noted that Wissa was not ready to be involved ahead of the west London side’s defeat to Nottingham Forest. The former Blackburn midfielder hopes the situation can soon be resolved.

“It’s a day-by-day one in terms of Wiss,” Andrews said. “As far as I know nothing else has happened today, definitely didn’t yesterday, so as it was really.

“I have no idea what the situation will be, I have been up here since yesterday so we will deal with that during the week. Hopefully it can resolve itself sooner rather than later.”

Andrews warned that the arrival of Dango Ouattarra does not makeWissa’s exit more likely. Brentford signed Dango from Bournemouth as a replacement for Bryan Mbeumo, who departed for Manchester United.

As a result, the Kiwi does not anticipate Brentford’s latest signing sparking a flurry of transfers resulting in Alexander Isak moving to Liverpool. “I don’t see it, Andrews said.

“I see Dango as Bryan’s replacement in terms of that area of the pitch, I see him as a versatile forward that I am really happy we have managed to get on board. We weren’t really aware he would be available, as soon as we knew it was a pretty easy decision to get him on board.

“Thankfully the club have been able to do that and it is a really significant investment for us. It will be a brilliant investment.”
