Yoga is an ancient tradition with numerous positive benefits for physical and mental health, and in the last few decades it has become popular in the west. It can be daunting, however, for beginners to get started – with such a wide variety of classes out there at all sorts of levels, it can be hard to know where to begin.

Now, however, for those who want to try the exercise, the Yoga-Go app offers beginner-friendly yoga and stretching classes tailored especially to those over 35. For customers who subscribe for the first time, they can save up to 61% on their first subscription.

According to Harvard Medical School, yoga has a range of benefits such as developing “inner awareness”, as it focuses attention on the body’s abilities at the present moment. It also helps develop breath and strength of mind and body. They also cite a study stating yoga can help with losing weight and staying fit too, saying: “Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years gained less weight during middle adulthood.”

On the Yoga-Go app, there are several features for users to try such as personalised yoga and stretching plans based on age, fitness level and goals. The British Heart Foundation states that several studies have found yoga to have a positive effect on cardiovascular risk factors as it helped lower blood pressure in people who have hypertension and it can lower excessive blood sugar levels.

Therefore, when on the app, customers can also choose their focus such as weight loss, mobility, flexibility or even stress relief, and they will then get a program designed for them which could include chair yoga, wall pilates or somatic yoga.

When on the app, customers can also choose their focus such as weight loss, mobility, flexibility or even stress relief and they will then get a program designed for them which could include chair yoga, wall pilates or somatic yoga.

The workout doesn’t have to take up a huge chunk of people’s days as there are options available from seven minutes all the way up to 30 minutes. They also feature voice guidance, calendar tracking and soothing visuals for shoppers.

If this isn’t the app for everyone, there are others to choose from such as Down Dog which allows shoppers to select their time, level, focus, voice and music and then is created a unique and personalised yoga practice every session. Another is Glo which is an online yoga, meditation and pilates app which is suitable for all levels.

Users of Yoga-Go have shared their opinions on the app on Trustpilot. One person said: “Just getting started but love it so far.” Another wrote: “I love being able to move again. This is my first foray into yoga, and I love it!”

“I love doing workouts in the comfort of my own home, at whatever time works for me. Yoga-Go also allowed me to adjust the difficulty ‘up’ as I became more comfortable with the routines,” said another user.

Some people did find it wasn’t for them, however. One user said: “Some poses were too hard, even at medium level. I love chair yoga. You need more interaction with audience, as an example, five alternate poses for the hard poses.”

Another wrote: “Wonderful instruction based at my pace and skill. Makes it so anyone can do this. I enjoyed the demonstrator and the narrator. The gradual increase is a boost to my expectation that I will be able to perform the tasks. I always feel better after I am finished.”

Programs and workouts are available on the Yoga-Go app.
