Freeview has just confirmed an update that brings three new channels to TVs along with a swathe of changes to the telly planner.
Bored of the same old channels? Good news, as Freeview has just confirmed a big update that brings a trio of new things to watch to UK homes. The popular free-to-view platform says UK users should now find EuroNews (Ch 257), It Is Written TV (Ch 286) and Trace UK (Ch 285) appearing on their planners if they head to settings and perform a quick retune.
Euronews offers the latest breaking news from around the world, It Is Written TV is a streaming platform dedicated to presenting thought-provoking biblical programming and Trace UK features the very best of national and international artists, playing the hottest hip-hop, grime, afrobeats, rap and chart topping music.
Those channel launches aren’t all that’s new. There are also six changes to the telly guide with some services moving position on the planner.
For example, That’s TV 2 MCR switches from Channel 86 to Channel 85, Rewind TV swaps from Channel 95 to Channel 92 and SonLife ,moves from Channel 96 to Channel 94.

Explaining more about the update, Freeview said: “On 26th March 2025, some broadcasters are making changes to their channels.
“Channels are constantly evolving on Freeview with individual channels making the decision to move, add or remove channels. Freeview continues to ensure that audiences can enjoy a rich and varied content.”

Freeview now says it’s vital that you perform a settings check to get the planner in order and the new channels added.
“You will need to retune to update your TV and keep your channels and TV Guide up to date,” Freeview confirmed

HOW TO RETUNE YOUR FREEVIEW TV
Freeview has issued advice on how to retune devices, and here are the steps every user needs to follow.
• Press menu on your box or TV remote control
• Select ‘set-up’, ‘installation’, ‘update’ or a similar option. If you’re asked for a password, the default code is ‘1234’ or ‘0000’.
• Select ‘first-time installation’ (sometimes called ‘factory reset’, ‘full retune’ or ‘default settings’).
•Press ‘OK’ if your equipment asks if it’s OK to delete existing channels and then your retune should start automatically. If you’re prompted to, save the channels that are found.
