Apple has just confirmed the release of iOS 18.5 and here’s what’s new.
If you have an iPhone in your pocket, then you might want to check the settings without delay. It’s just been confirmed that a big iOS update has just been released across the globe, which adds new features and fixes some bugs that could be affecting devices.
iOS 18.5 is available now and can be found by heading to the Settings menu and tapping General then Software Update.
Once installed, bonus updates include new wallpapers for the homescreen, along with parents getting alerts when the Screen Time password is used on a child’s device. That should stop younger members of the family from playing games and watching YouTube without permission.
Apple also says that its Buy with iPhone is also now available when purchasing content within the Apple TV app on a third-party device.
Those with an iPhone 13 will also be able to send texts via satellites for the first time (depending on location and network provider).
This has been available on newer iPhone models for some time and offers peace of mind when heading off the beaten track and away from 4G and 5G data signals.
Along with those features, iOS 18.5 also upgrades the security of devices and fixes some bugs so it’s well worth downloading.

• Support for satellite features from your network provider is available on iPhone 13 (all models).
Some features may not be available in all regions or on all Apple devices.
Just one word of warning. This is a huge 1.5GB file, so make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi before tapping the download button. Your iPhone will also need to restart to install the update so don’t do it if you are expecting an urgent phone call or text.
