Zara Tindall overcome with emotion as she holds conversation with husband Mike Tindall

Zara Tindall discussed her equestrian success and the sacrifices she has made for her career in a rare interview with husband Mike

Zara Tindall was visibly moved as she reminisced about her Olympic glory with her husband Mike on his YouTube series, ‘Mike Drop’.

The show, which kicked off in early 2023, saw Zara make a guest appearance. Since tying the knot in 2011, the daughter of Princess Anne and the ex-England rugby ace have become one of Blighty’s most well-known power duos.

The couple share three children – Mia, Lena and Lucas. Zara is famed for her equestrian prowess at the Olympic Games. When Mike launched his video series in 2023, she joined him for a rare heart-to-heart, candidly discussing motherhood and her medal-winning moments.

The couple settled down for a touching half-hour natter on the channel, where they delved into Zara’s triumphs in equestrian sports. She spotlighted her success with her Olympic steed, High Kingdom, who bagged her a silver medal at London 2012.

Zara also recalled highlights from her early career, including bagging two gold medals at her senior debut at the 2005 European Championships and scooping an individual gold and team silver at the World Equestrian Games the following year.

She spoke fondly of competing and winning for the late Trevor Hemmings, owner of High Kingdom, reflecting on their special bond during the stunning victory before his passing in 2021.

“We managed to get him [High Kingdom] to the Olympics, which was incredible,” she began. “Trev, Trevor Hemmings, has won so many amazing things in his racing career, Grand Nationals and things like that.”

Zara, 44, then began to tear up, but fought through the emotion. She added: “But to see his face at the Olympics and to get that team medal was amazing.

“And to be able to give something back to him when he had supported me for so long was incredible. I’m going to get emotional now.”

Husband Mike, who turns 47 on Saturday, October 18, praised her commitment during their conversation, noting that she frequently puts her owners and horses first, occasionally at her own expense.

When she’s not carrying out Royal engagements or competing, Zara is recognised for devoting every available moment to her three children.

During the interview, Zara candidly discussed juggling motherhood with her professional life, including battles with “mum guilt” and regaining fitness following the births of Mia, Lena and Lucas.

She went on, addressing her husband: “I found it hard to get back to it. Mentally, you feel guilty leaving your child to do something else.”

Zara and Mike’s love story began during England’s Rugby World Cup triumph in Australia in 2003. Their betrothal, revealed in December 2010, came after Mike popped the question with “a custom-designed diamond and platinum ring with a divided diamond band.”
