When it comes to looking and feeling their best, nobody does self-care better than Amanda Holden, who despite a jam packed schedule, continues to make sure she prioritises her wellbeing with a variety of tried and tested treatments and rituals. In fact, it’s safe to say that when the 53-year-old mum of three isn’t busy brightening up the airwaves on Heart Radio, or delighting the masses as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, rest and relaxation is often at the top of her agenda.

When quizzed about what exactly she does to maintain her look, Amanda previously admitted: “I’m a fan of various creams and potions, too, and lots of water (and wine!), but really I think it’s down to genetics. I’m up for anything, though nothing invasive.”

Yet while it would be easy to agree and presume that Amanda’s toned physique and glowing complexion is an effortless combination of good hydration and flawless genetics, there are actually 10 specific things that the star does to make sure she retains her radiant glow.

So how does Amanda maintain her perfect image?

Yoga

When it comes to exercise, Amanda likes to keep things relatively low impact, with the star having confessed to having developed a love for yoga while recovering from the death of her son seven months into her pregnancy, and following a traumatic birth with daughter Hollie.

Opening up about how practicing yoga had helped on her journey to recovery, Amanda explained: “I’m so grateful to my body after what it has been through. I got into yoga because after Hollie was born I’d been on a ventilator and I had a lot of lung problems. Kundalini yoga is all about breath work, so I took it on to build my strength. A lot of people advised me to do it for calmness, too. I don’t really sit still, I’m always on the go.”

As well as building on her mental health, the practice also helped her physical resilience too, with the star later going on to add: “The chanting is really fun, but it’s tough. There’s one exercise called the Breath of Fire which is great for abs. But it’s also a good pick-me-up when you’re tired – honestly, it’s better than a cup of coffee! My body got strong and any excess fat disappeared. It’s definitely made my tummy flatter.”

In addition to her yoga, Amanda is also known to be a keen runner, and has previously undertaken several hikes including up Snowdon in 2022.

Lymphatic drainage

Like many stars, Amanda is no stranger to undergoing spa-like treatments, but one of her most famous has to be the SLIMYONIK fat burning treatment at D. Thomas Specialist Skin Clinic in London. Documenting her visit online, Amanda underwent the painless procedure which involves wearing a high-tech jumpsuit called a BodyStyler, as it delivers a special pressurised massage that helps to encourage lymphatic drainage.

With prices starting at £100 per session, with a minimum of four sessions required, it may well be a little beyond the budget of many of us, but a fear not, beauty fans, as manual lymphatic drainage can also be undertaken at home with the help of gua sha stones, or even just by hand, with the focus being on massaging fluid and inflammation away from the lymph nodes.

Healthy eating

As the old saying goes, you are what you eat, and judging by Amanda’s flawless figure, she’s taken her diet very seriously in recent years. Yet unlike the years of old in which many celebrities might be tempted to resort to crash diets, Amanda’s dietary rules are actually fairly balanced and easy to follow.

Reflecting on her diet, Amanda previously told the Daily Mail : “You have to enjoy life. I had a friend once who didn’t make it to her 50s and her biggest regret was that she spent her life on a diet. I think a little bit of everything is fine.

“Life’s too short to do fat-free, sugar-free, alcohol-free. I don’t believe in half-fat anything, I have full-fat yoghurt, butter and cheese. And I splurge on the weekends. I love wine.”

Despite her relaxed rules and preference for everything in moderation, there is one food group that the star has cut from her diet completely – and that is any form of meat. Amanda made the decision to cut the food group from her diet at the age of 13, after she realised it came from animals and didn’t want to harm them.

Detoxes

Another unexpected addition to Amanda’s wellness routine is her annual detox holiday before presenting Britain’s Got Talent. Every year prior to the commencement of filming, the popular judge revealed she usually jets off abroad to get into the best shape she can prior to appearing on camera.

Jetting off to Portugal prior to the series, Amanda admitted it had been a good experience so far, as she explained: “It’s really good for your mindset, rather like unplugging your computer and plugging it back in.”

While on these breaks, Amanda also revealed she enjoys detoxing when she can, to push her body into resetting before a gruelling few weeks of work.

Speaking to Hello!, she said: “I try to detox twice a year for health benefits, one of them being before the BGT live shows. I’m used to it now so don’t experience any bad side effects. I really feel a great benefit. My skin glows, eyes are brighter and there is some weight loss but the most important thing is my mental state.”

Medical grade tweakments

Like many celebrities in the spotlight, Amanda has always been conscious of her appearance and undergone many treatments including botox injections over the years. However, since swearing off the injections, she has developed a fondness for far less invasive forms of cosmetic enhancement, such as CollagenWave facials and Morpheus8 treatments with Nilam Holmes.

Documenting the process on social media, Amanda wrote: “The other week before filming started on the @bgt live shows, Nilam suggested I try a new natural treatment called Morpheus8 ! The results have been absolutely amazing. I’ve noticed a real plumpness to my skin and it’s much tighter!”

CollagenWave is described as a natural alternative to anti-wrinkle injections and fillers, but does come with a hefty price tag of around £130 a session, with a course of six typically recommended for the best results.

Morpheus8 meanwhile, combines radio frequency and micro-needling to reduce fine lines and scarring – but this unique combination is a far bigger financial investment, with single treatments ranging between £500-£2,000!

Opening up about her reason to undergo these non-surgical options, Amanda previously told The Guardian : “I’d never be able to go under the knife because I have a skin condition which means I overproduce scar tissue, but I’m all for anything to make anyone feel better. If they invent something that doesn’t involve a knife I’ll definitely be having it in the future. I was quoted as saying I’d never use Botox again – what I actually said was: “Never say never”, but I haven’t had any for months.”

Liquid collagen

A key component of Amanda’s daily routine, is her religious use of Revive Collagen, a liquid collagen supplement that she credits with being the secret behind her glowing skin and glossy locks.

Working as an ambassador for the company, the BGT star has regularly extolled its virtues, including her glowing testimony which read: “I also won’t go without my daily dose of Revive Collagen – it’s my beauty essential which keeps my hair, skin and nails looking and feeling their best. It really helps with the thickness of my hair and strengthening my nails, plus it makes my skin more glowy. For me, it’s as obvious as putting on mascara!”

Banish the toxicity

Cutting unhealthy foods and bad habits from our lifestyles may seem straight forward enough, but Amanda takes things one step further, and has vowed to actively cut toxic people from her life and to stop trying to please everyone.

Speaking to the Daily Express, Amanda admitted: “I don’t deny myself anything. I think being happy and confident shines. I’ve got good people around me, I surround myself with good people, and I put my energy into the people who deserve it. I don’t try to people please as much as I did anymore.”

“I think all of that really helps you feel confident and helps the glow. If you feel good on the inside you will feel good on the outside.”

Gold facials

During one of her many spa trips over the years, Amanda previously showed fans a glimpse of her luxury skincare treatment by TheLifeCo, which featured the application of a golden face mask. Yet while being painted in gold may seem like it might break the bank, the treatment actually came with a fairly modest price tag of just €90!

Featuring a combination of different techniques which include deep cleansing, ultrasonic exfoliation, a massage, an oxygen treatment, and plant-based collagen application, the whole treatment is later finished off with an extra bougie gold mask.

Regular Sex

Another core part of Amanda’s wellness routine is regular sex with her husband Chris Hughes – and the radio host certainly isn’t shy about it! Lifting the lid on her love life while on Lorraine, Amanda previously admitted she and Chris keep the spark alive in their marriage with the help from a few sex toys!

While discussing Ann Summers parties, Amanda cheekily told viewers: “I think I can say that we all know what we’re talking about. It’s early morning and there are children at home but everyone’s got a magic box in their house, somewhere. Full of everything.”

Family time

While her busy schedule often keeps her occupied, another important aspect of Amanda’s wellness routine is making time for her family – even if that means doing some mundane chores in the process, something she found particularly relevant during the 2020 pandemic.

Sharing her insight with QVC, Amanda previously told the network: “I work often, and so much of it is away from home, so I’ve really enjoyed being around, cooking from scratch, having the time to do things like cleaning out cupboards and organising stuff! We’ve also redone our garden and it’s starting to look wonderful. A staycation is definitely more appealing now! I’ve stayed positive by thinking of all the good stuff, like us being together and enjoying good health.”

“Spending more time at home recently, I have enjoyed rosé, eating in the garden, making cakes and allowing myself a few extra calories as a special treat! Factoring in a daily run has made that all guilt-free in my mind.”
