Summer is almost here and with it, sometimes, comes warmer weather that can make us a little sweaty. As a result a lot of us find ourselves wishing that we smelled a little fresher.
Body sprays and perfumes alike are great for keeping you smelling fresh in the warmer months, when combined with a hygiene routine. Whether you find yourself reaching for the same thing year round or you’re more interested in seasonal scents, there are seemingly endless options to choose from.
Here at the Mirror we asked our team what they like to smell of during the summer – and there are a couple of brands that came up more than once.

1. KAYALI Yum Pistachio Gelato | 33 Eau de Parfum Intense 10ml
Jada Jones said: “I think this perfume actually smells cold, it smells like cold and creamy ice cream fresh from the counter on a sunny day. The notes make it sound like it’s going to be overly sweet but it actually isn’t. I find myself reaching for this really often, it’s a comforting smell that has me constantly reaching for my wrist to catch a whiff of it, it smells delicious.”
Top Notes: Italian Bergamot, Pistachio Gelato, Hazelnut, Sweet Rum and Cardamom
Middle Notes: Geranium, White Peony, Muguet, Jasmine, Raspberry, White Peach and Pear

2. Rituals The Ritual of Jing Hair, Body and Bed Mist
Lucy Addicot said: “If you want to smell like you’ve just stepped into a spa, this Rituals mist is the ticket. It has a really fresh, green scent and is a winner for anyone who loves the scent of the air when it has just rained. The mist is super fine so not only does it smell great on your skin and hair, it’s very refreshing to spritz. I love how it doubles up as a pillow spray, too.
“In true Ritual’s style, the bottle is also beautiful so it looks super stylish when on your bedroom dresser or the bathroom side. It’s best suited for those who gravitate towards clean, floral and earthy fragrances, rather than fruity or sweet.”
Notes: Sacred Wood, Lavender

3. Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 59 Perfume Mist 90ml
Rachel Pugh said: “When it comes to fragrance, I’m normally a luxury perfume girly. I’ve got countless bottles of high-end perfume, most of which are sensual scents from Middle Eastern brands. So for me, body spray is normally a no-go. I want to smell expensive at all times, and love to reapply throughout the day – but this can prove costly.
“One body spray which has bucked the trend for me, though, is Sol De Janeiro’s Cheirosa 59. Relatively new to the Sol De Janeiro range, Cheirosa 59 smells like pure luxury in a bottle. It’s described as a ‘warm sunset in a bottle’, and to be honest, the description does it justice.
“It combines notes of vanilla orchid, sugared violet, whipped amber and sandalwood for a sweet yet woody scent that stands out without being overpowering. I’ve found it lasts longer than some of the other scents in the range, too. It also layers beautifully with my more expensive perfumes – making it a brilliant option to save a bit of money, while continuing to smell amazing throughout the day.”
Top Notes: Velvet Plum, Sugared Violet.
Heart Notes: Vanilla Orchid, Whipped Amber.
Base Notes: Sheer Sandalwood, Fresh Vetiver.

4. Blackberry Woods by Shay and Blue
Rachel Sloper said: “I’m a big fan of natural, fruity, scents. Shay and Blue’s Blackberry Woods is bursting with fresh, juicy blackberry, spiked with a punchy citrus, which avoids it becoming cloying and sickly. It’s very subtle and fresh, making it perfect for everyday use on hot summer days. Whenever I put this on I instantly feel energised and full of life, I reach for it on long summer days.”
Top notes: Blackberry
Heart notes: Neroli and lemon
Base notes: Cypress woods

5. So…? Bali Breeze Body Mist 200ml
Shawna Healey said: “After trying various perfumes and body sprays over the years, at different price points, there is one budget-friendly spray that I keep coming back to and that’s the Bali Breeze Body Mist from So…? The feminine spray smells of summer and it’s not overly sweet or gourmand.
“The £6.50 body spray captures what it feels like to be on holiday with its mellow notes of coconut, pineapple and orange blossom with an undercurrent of vanilla, giving it a hearty base. The scent lasts all day on the skin and it is a great foundation for layering scents.”

6. RARE BEAUTY Find Comfort Body & Hair Fragrance Mist 100ml
Tiffany Lo: “When Selena Gomez announced the launch of her first body care collection, I was excited to try out this travel-friendly hair and body mist and the scent is just perfect for summer days. The uplifting zesty note from lemon and subtle floral jasmine take my mind off any stress and the bottle has a tiny metal ball inside so I like to give it a good shake and it gives a satisfying cloud-like mist. It might be slightly on the expensive side but a little goes a long way, and it works on hair too.”
Notes: Sparkling lemon zest, jasmine and cashmere wood

7. Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Cheirosa 62 Perfume Mist
Melisha Kaur said: “I’ve been wearing this gourmand fragrance for years now, it’s definitely my go-to for summer. Sol de Janeiro’s Brazilian Crush Cheirosa 62 offers notes of pistachio, almond, heliotrope, jasmine petals, vanilla, salted caramel and sandalwood.
“What I love most is that you can use this mist on both your body and hair, and when applied over the cult-favourite Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, it lasts for hours on end. You won’t find a dreamier scent for the warmer months – trust me. The fragrance is sweet without being overwhelming, but you will probably need a little top-up throughout the day.”
Top Notes: Pistachio, Almond.
Heart Notes: Heliotrope, Jasmine Petals.
Base Notes: Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Sandalwood.

8. Salt Caramel by Shay & Blue
Bethan Shufflebotham said: “My favourite fragrance is without a doubt Salt Caramel from Shay and Blue, and while you may think these warm, cosy scents are better suited to the autumn months, when layered with something like the sol de Janeiro 62, it couldn’t be more summer-ready. Inspired by sea salt caramel truffles, it’s a super elevated fragrance that smells good enough to eat.
“With notes of Caribbean Tonka bean and sandalwood, it’s got a beautiful balance between sweet, salty, masculine and feminine. What’s great is that it’s a unisex fragrance, too – because I’m a big believer in wearing fragrances you love regardless of who they’re marketed to. Warm, deep, rich and luxurious, it’s incredibly addictive and perfect for those evening dinner dates on a sunny holiday.”
Notes: Sea Salt, Caramel, Tonka, Vanilla and Sandalwood
