Former Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has been suggested as a potential replacement for Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, but Como are determined to keep him
Cesc Fabregas looks set to stay at Como – despite becoming one of Europe’s most sought-after young coaches. Former Arsenal and Chelsea star Fabregas, 38, has worked wonders at Como after leading them to mid-table security after gaining promotion to Serie A.
That has marked him down as a hugely promising coach and RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen both looked at him as a potential candidate for next season, with the latter losing Fabregas’ old Spain team-mate Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid.
Fabregas is understood to have really impressed RB Leipzig in what he has done at Como and also his vision as a coach and player development.
But Como are fighting hard to ensure he stays at the club and Italian media reports suggest he will stay for another year.

However, Fabregas’s long term future now looks to be hugely exciting and it is highly likely that if he continues his progression then Premier League clubs may also look at him in years to come.
Ex-Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea star Fabregas was always regarded as an intelligent and thoughtful player and those traits have clearly helped him in his coaching career.
Alonso will soon be announced as the replacement for Carlo Ancelotti at the Bernabeu, with the veteran Italian coach leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season to take over as Brazil’s national team manager.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday though, Ancelotti suggested that he was angered that Brazil has already confirmed he would be taking the job before his time with Real was over.
Ancelotti said: “If I didn’t have this news conference today it would have been a fantastic day. But in this news conference I have to explain things that I don’t want to explain. Until the 25th, I wear the Real Madrid shirt, which I respect very much.”
He added: “Real Madrid will release the statement when they want. There’s no problem whatsoever. They’ll do it at the appropriate time for Real Madrid and there’s nothing further to add.”
