Arsenal transfer news: William Saliba confirms future stance amid Eberechi Eze boost

By staff29 July 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Arsenal have spent nearly £200million this summer but the Gunners aren’t slowing down, pursuing a deal for Eberechi Eze and entering talks with William Saliba over a new contract

What now for Arsenal? The Gunners have finally completed the signing of Viktor Gyokeres, ending the summer’s biggest transfer saga so far.

Arsenal announced his £63.7million transfer on Saturday and now they can move on to other priorities. Even after Gyokeres’ arrival and the signing of Noni Madueke, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is still looking for refresh his attack.

Plenty of names have been bandied about, including that of Real Madrid winger Rodrygo and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers. But Eberechi Eze appears to be Arsenal’s top target, as they aim to bring the Crystal Palace playmaker back after releasing him as a teenager.

But it’s not all about incomings, with their spending already close to the £200m mark. The Gunners will have to sanction departures before the summer transfer window closes on September 1 while they’re also working on contract renewals.

Here’s a round-up of the latest transfer news from the Emirates.

Saliba reveals contract stance

William Saliba says that he’ll ‘hopefully’ sign a new contract with Arsenal. Saliba’s current deal expires in 2027 and the Gunners are keen to tie him down for the long term like centre-back partner Gabriel Magalhaes, who’s under contract for four more years.

Asked during Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Asia whether he was going to sign a new deal, the 24-year-old Frenchman confirmed: “Yeah, hopefully. Of course there is nothing now but there is a good conversation with my agent and the club. Let’s see.”

Crystal Palace identify Eze replacement

Crystal Palace have reportedly added Leicester midfielder Bilal El Khannouss to their shortlist of players who could replace Eberechi Eze. Arsenal are shifting their focus to Eze, 27, and hope to sign England international for below his £68m release clause.

Eze is understood to be open to joining Arsenal which has prompted Palace to identify potential replacements. According to reports from his native Belgium, El Khannouss is one of them. It’s added that RB Leipzig are also fans of the Morocco international but neither club have made an approach.

Should Arsenal sign Eberechi Eze? Have your say in the comments section.

Chelsea poised to close Hato deal

Arsenal are set to miss out on Ajax starlet Jorrel Hato, who’s on the verge of joining Chelsea. Hato, 19, has already agreed personal terms with the Gunners’ London rivals.

Chelsea are expected to pay over £34.8million for the left-sided defender. Arsenal had been tracking Hato while he was also linked with Liverpool.
