A string of sport stars and celebrities were glittering down the red carpet at MediaCityUK, Salford, on Tuesday night for the annual Sports Personality of the Year awards
Footballer and presenter Alex Scott had the affectionate support of girlfriend Jess Glynne as they stunned on the Sports Personality of the Year red carpet on Tuesday night.
The glamorous couple turned heads in their smart and chic outfits – with Alex, 40, bringing glamour in a sleeveless black velvet evening gown and Jess, 35, looking sharp in a tailored and stylish evening suit. The ladies walked hand in hand and smiled into each others’s eyes as they prepared to spend a night celebrating the biggest names in sport.
English middle-distance runner Keely Hodgkinson also opted for a black dress for the night of celebration – gliding down the red carpet in a striking backless gown with an eye-grabbing cut out panel running down her torso on the front. The 22-year-old from Manchester won the gold medal in the Women’s 800m at the 2024 Olympics in Paris earlier this year.
Iconic athlete Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill – who retired from competing professionally in 2016, looked glowing at the event in a deep emerald coloured gown. The 38-year-old sport star wore a dress that was sleeveless on her left side and featured a daring side-split up her leg.

Teenage darts player Luke Littler looked smart in a black tuxedo and tie as he arrived to celebrate the best in the sporting world. The 17-year-old caused a sensation at the beginning of the year as he narrowly missed out on winning the darts world championship final back in January – losing the title to Luke Humphries, 29.
English football goalkeeper Mary Earps – who was crowned Sports Personality of the Year at the 2023 ceremony – looked well groomed in a dazzling black and silver dress. The 31-year-old star had her glossy blonde hair cascading around her shoulders, while she stood out in a sleeveless gown with dazzling wing details.
Rower Imogen Grant, 28, wore the colours of the British flag as she walked the red carpet in a expertly designed dress. While triathlete Alex Yee, 26, flashed a winning smile as he arrived with girlfriend Olivia Mathias – who is also an accomplished triathlete.
Elsewhere on the red carpet, swimmer Rebecca Adlington, 35, shimmered in a silver dress, boxing legend and recent I’m A Celeb contestant Barry McGuigan, 63, wore a smart suit, and cyclist Sir Bradley Wiggins, 44, also wore a suit. Road racing cyclist Sir Mark Cavendish, 39 – who won the Sports Personality Lifetime Achievement award, arrived with his wife Peta Todd, 38, who shone in a bright yellow dress.
Representing even more cycling success, Sir Chris Hoy, 48, arrived withhis wife Sarra Kemp. Cyclist husband and wife Jason, 36, and Laura Kenny, 32, flashed beaming smiles – and Dame Kelly Holmes, 54, looked elegant in a crimson dress. Paddy McGuinness channelled his inner milk tray man by arriving in a black turtleneck jumper – and British track and field athlete Daryll Neita looked very demure and adorable in a shimmering red dress.
Swimmer Ellie Challis, 20, also opted for red on the red carpet, wearing a sleeveless number. And rower Gregg Stevenson, 40, opted to go green – sporting a deep emerald suit jacket for his moment on the red carpet.
