As unsettling hotel video camera footage appeared to show rapper P Diddy physically assault his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, fans have picked up on old signs of alleged abuse during the pair’s relationship
As disturbing surveillance video footage from 2016 that appears to depict rapper Sean “P Diddy” Combs physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura emerges, social media users have tried to find signs of tension during their relationship.
This week, an alarming clip from 2016 was unearthed that appears to show P Diddy violently shoving and kicking his former girlfriend Cassie, as well as hurling objects at her in a hotel hallway in California. This unearthed footage comes after the singer previously filed a lawsuit against the rapper back in November of 2023. At the time, she alleged that Diddy “raped her and perpetually abused her for years,” according to court documents obtained by The Mirror.
The case settled the following day, with Diddy’s lawyer issuing a statement shared with The Mirror: “Just so we’re clear, a decision to settle a lawsuit, especially in 2023, is in no way an admission of wrongdoing,” and added: “Mr. Combs‘ decision to settle the lawsuit does not in any way undermine his flat-out denial of the claims.”

And as the alleged abuse comes to light, fans of Cassie have recirculated old clips of the former couple discussing some of the perceived “controlling” behavior they felt P Diddy exhibited when they were dating. The former couple shared an on-and-off relationship for over a decade from 2008 to 2018. During this time one instance that captured the attention of many fans was when DJ Envy interviewed the pair about Cassie’s upcoming music.
During the interview, DJ Envy asked Cassie: “Do you fight back when he [P Diddy] says something?” To which Cassie laughed and said: “I do have a slick mouth.” To which P Diddy interjected: “Yeah she talks slick a lot.” Cassie then tried to lighten the mood by adding: “But we work together well. And as for the music I guess you’ll have to see for yourself when you hear it. I’m really excited for it because I’ve been working on it for a long time.”
P Diddy seemingly later cut her off during the interview as he chimed in: “It will be coming out at the probably at the end of the year, top of the year but we’re really going to make sure we set it up right. We’re really going to do some strategic things with her.” The camera then panned over to Cassie who was silently sitting and nodding her head in agreement despite looking what fans perceived as “sad” and “broken.”
In the comments of the resurfaced interview clip posted by truecrimetvtime, fans of Cassie called attention to Diddy’s alleged “controlling” behavior. One user wrote: “The way he always keep talking for her shows he controls her.” And another noted: “She looks so sad and broken.” And someone else observed: “Everyone always seemed uncomfortable around him. Like intimidated and creeped out.” While someone else pointed out: “notice he’s asking her the question but Diddy is answering for her.”
Fans also pointed out that during that same time period, rumours circulated that Diddy forced Cassie to shave her head. In an interview with Vlad TV in 2022, rapper Yung Joc claimed that he witnessed P Diddy tell Cassie to change her hairstyle. He explained: “I was watching Puff … Puff jumped up. Me and Cassie sitting next to each other, my wife right here, Cassie right here. The n—- jumped off the bar, came over there and said, ‘Yo, yo Cassie. Tomorrow, I want you to shave the side of your head.'”
Yung Joc said that he was shocked by the bizarre request, and claimed: “And I was like, ‘What the f— kind of request is that?’ So, when I look up there, this white woman, the side of her head was shaved.” He continued: “So, I was looking at Cassie and I was like, ‘You not ’bout to do that are you?’ and she said, ‘Well, I mean, whatever Sean wants, I’m gonna do.’”
Diddy has not been charged with any crimes against Cassie, but he has shared an apology video addressing the leaked surveillance video footage. In a newly posted clip on Instagram, the rapper said: “I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses. So difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, sometimes you got to do that. I was f—– up. I mean I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses, my behavior in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video, disgusting.”
He continued: “I was disgusted then when I did it, I am disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help, I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. Asked God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I am committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness, I’m truly sorry.”
