Alton Towers has unveiled two new attractions that will thrill guests this Halloween. The Edge of the Forest and Dark Hollow are the new additions for Scarefest 2025
Alton Towers Resort has unveiled two terrifying new attractions ahead of Scarefest 2025.
Scarefest 2025 kicks off at the Staffordshire theme park on 27 September, running on all of the weekends from then until 2 November.
One of the new attractions is a live-action scare maze set deep in the eerie Dark Forest, named the Edge of the Forest. Those who dare to enter will be stalked by horrifying tree-like creatures and plagued by a mysterious presence known only as the Leshwall – a spirit said to twist the trees and infiltrate your mind.

As well as the new maze, Alton Towers Resort has also announced a new scare zone for 2025. Dark Hollow, a free-flowing outdoor scare zone plunges visitors further into the expanding world of TH13TEEN. In this haunting extension of the Dark Forest, a chilling presence watches from the shadows, luring thrillseekers deeper into its grasp.
Here, visitors are tasked with uncovering the truth behind sightings of “The Twisted” – forest-born creatures believed to punish those who disturb the natural order.
Bianca Sammut, vice president of Alton Towers Resort, said, “At Alton Towers Resort, we’re always raising the bar for thrills and our latest scare attractions, The Edge of the Forest and Dark Hollow, are no exception. The new scare maze and scare zone bring the twists of the Dark Forest to life in terrifying new ways and we can’t wait to see brave fans take it on during Scarefest 2025.”
As part of the 2025 Scarefest lineup, Alton Towers Resort has announced several other attractions will be making a return.
Guests can once again brave the Altonville Mine Tours, descend into the unnerving depths of the COMPOUND scare maze – first introduced in 2024 – and wander through the eerie atmosphere of the Burial Ground scare zone.

For younger visitors, Trick O’ Treat Town with HARIBO and MAOAM, offers a delightfully spooky walk-through experience where visitors knock on doors along Spooky Avenue and into the Witchy Woods. Along the way, there’s the promise of sweet treats, and a fair share of playful tricks.
Families can look forward to the return of Amigos in the Afterlife, which offers a vibrant celebration inspired by Dia de los Muertos.
As night falls, guests can take on the resort’s rollercoasters in darkness – including Wicker Man, Oblivion and new for 2025, Toxicator – as part of rides in the dark.
