This Lumie Sunrise Alarm has five natural sounds as an optional extra alarm for shoppers to choose from
Sleep-lovers are praising the Lumie Sunrise Alarm Clock, with many saying it has improved their quality of shut-eye. The alarm clock is currently on sale for £31.99 on Amazon, a saving of 36% off its usual price of £49.99.
With many clever features, the Lumie alarm clock can be set to simulate the sun rising, starting 30 minutes before the alarm sounds to waken the user naturally. This can also be set to mimic the sun setting at bedtime, with the light taking 30 minutes to gradually dim to darkness.
Lumie, a British company founded in Cambridge in 1991, has spent more than 30 years researching how to help people reconnect with their natural rhythms for better sleep, mood and energy levels. The company says they invented the first wake-up light in 1992.

By simulating a sunrise, the alarm clock offers a more natural way to wake up, which can help to combat SAD and winter blues as well as improve sleep, the brand says. Users can experience a warm, white light for the sunrise and sunset along with a choice of six other colours to suit their mood: green, red, blue, pink, orange or light blue.
It can also be used as a bedside light, with 10 light levels to choose from.

With a night light with seven different colours to creates a calming atmosphere in the bedroom, there is also a choice of 30 soothing sounds to help them fall asleep, from nature to white noise. It also features an automatic off timer, so users do not have to worry about switching it off once they are close to sleep.
Another option, at the cheaper end of the market, is The Range Simulated Sunrise LED Alarm Clock with Colourful Atmosphere Light. At £34.66, it also mimics the sun rising to wake the sleeper up from their slumber. It has an LED display to show the time, and offers multiple alarm sounds to be chosen from.
Fans of the Lumie alarm clock have said it makes a “huge difference” to their routine. One said: This has made a huge difference to getting out of bed in the morning – it’s a nice way to wake up with the increase of light. I have more motivation and energy using this.”
With more than 3,000 reviews on Amazon and a 4.2 out of 5 star average rating, another said: “This Lumie sunrise alarm ticked all the boxes and was no more expensive than some of the cheaper models. One reviewer said that although they were happy overall, they could not see the digits as clearly as they would have liked. “Mainly pleased with this clock, but the actual time is not very clear to see, it is quite blurry,” they said.
Another reported that it was not quite as big as they were expecting, saying: “I have been waking up easier since I got this and it is a nicer experience than a traditional beeping alarm. Unit is smaller than I expected but it’s a good size for a bedside table and the light is sufficiently bright to illuminate a room.”
