The Tapo smart plugs can have timers which turn off and monitor energy usage
With April approaching, many will face an increasing number of bills, including water, energy, council tax, and more. If 2025 is the year you feel like you need to rein it in, there’s one gadget that’ll help you monitor your energy usage.
Tapo is selling a smart plug bundle is a pack of four smart plugs that can be controlled by an app as well as controlled by Siri or Alexa. The plugs can instantly turn connected devices on/off wherever you are through the Tapo app, and each smart plug can be managed remotely by using your mobile phone or your smart speaker.
Each plug can also show you just how much energy each device is using so you can stop them from racking up those energy bills. You can even create timers so they can shut off when you need them to. And at £30 for four, you’d be silly not to invest in them.

The Tapo plugs aren’t the only great smart plugs you can get. Phillips has its Hue Smart Plug for £30 right here on Amazon. There’s also the slightly cheaper EightTree Smart Plugs for £15.99. One shopper said: “I bought a pack of four of these plugs to accompany my pair of Kasa HS100 plugs that I’m already using for home automation.
“These are more compact and have the bonus of energy monitoring too. Since TP Link, Kasa and Tapo are all effectively the same company, the Tapo app can be used to configure all of the devices and once this is done they can be linked to Alexa using the Tapo Alexa Skill.
“Once I logged into the Tapo app I was able to see the Kasa devices. They represent great value for money and do exactly what they’re supposed to do.”
However, some shopper claim they were quite fiddly to set up with WiFi. One reviewer added: “These are great. They are a little fiddly to setup, which is why they’re a star or two down. But once setup they work great. I have my studio all running off them and tied to Alexa and now means no more going behind lots of pieces of equipment to switch it all on or off”.
