An amputee who got a genius tattoo after losing their foot has left social media fans in stitches with the unusual inking, with users praising them for ‘laughing at themselves’

Sometimes it’s important to see the funny side of life – even when times are tough.

Perhaps that’s why an amputee decided to get a tattoo after having their foot removed. The anonymous person took to Reddit to share a snap of their new ink, which left people in stitches.

The tat featured a gravestone along with the quote: “One foot in the grave,” in reference to their missing trotter. They captioned the post: “I thought it was so funny.”

It’s fair to say even Victor Meldrew would have found it hard not to laugh at the unusual ink. And fellow social media users also had a chuckle at the creative body art.

Since the snap of the tattoo was shared, thousands of people have interacted with the post and hundreds more have commented. One person wrote: “This is exactly what you were supposed to do! I would make so many stupid jokes.

“I’m legally blind and have made bad jokes about it my whole life. Making jokes about my disability has always helped me get through it. We all need to laugh at ourselves more!”

Another added: “Am in a wheelchair, can confirm. Sometimes the jokes and humour are the best part of my day with the disability. Especially the stupid ones! They make me so happy.”

A third replied: “Finding a positive out of an unfortunate situation is always fun.” Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: “I’m questioning whether it would be funnier if you got this tattoo before or after the foot was lost.”

As for the person who posted the picture, they seemed to love reading the comments, and joked with various people who reached out to share their thoughts.

Responding to the fourth comment, the amputee replied: “CURSED. I often dread what if I lose the other one and then I’ll have to cover up this tattoo.”

They also quipped: “Doing my best to put my best foot forward.”

Though it’s undeniably hard to go through something life changing like an amputation, it’s obvious they’ve taken it in their stride, and are determined to live life to the full – with an extra sprinkling of humour.
