Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has shared a sweet snap with Jessie J from backstage at the hit BBC show as launch night arrives. Professional dancer Amy, 35, gushed over her “breast cancer sister” as they smiled for a selfie.

Amy, who got the all clear from the devastating disease, shared a positive message with the singer, 37, who was recently diagnosed and underwent surgery. Amy wrote on Instagram : “So amazing to meet @jessiej, a fellow breast cancer sister, but foremost an icon and mama.

“As soon as we said hello, it was like nothing else mattered, just two women sharing our stories and understanding the highs and devastating lows we’ve been through.”

She added: “Thank you for the lovely chat and the pic. Wishing you love and strength on your continued recovery and long May you do what you do best.”

Fans were loving the snap and shared their delight in the comments section. Many labelled the pair “two icons” and “two fighters”. One user penned: “Gorgeous inspiring ladies!”

The emotional meeting comes just weeks after the Price Tag singer returned to the stage for the first time following her surgery. And now, she is ready to rock the Strictly stars and shared her excitement on her Instagram Stories.

She shared a skit along with the Strictly judges as she sang her famous tune, with Craig Revel Horwood pulling his trademark frown. Jessie wrote: “Watch me sing Living my best life on @bbcstrictly tonight! Show is 6.40pm – 8.30pm.”

While Jessie has still been performing gigs and sharing emotional messages with fans at shows including at a festival in Sao Paulo, Ronnie Scott’s club in London and at Radio 2 In The Park this month.

She revealed she will undergo more surgery in four weeks time. She has revealed doctors found ‘more breast cancer in other places’.

In a social media post last week, the star explained biopsies during an MRI scan had shown the issue.

As she shared a clip of herself performing at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London, she said: “Today marks 12 weeks since my mastectomy for breast cancer and 4 weeks until my next surgery.

“I feel like only now I’m really processing how much I have done in the last 5 months since my diagnosis. I am not ashamed to say I am so proud of myself. “This showcase was the afternoon after I had 5 more biopsies after they had found more breast cancer in other places after my MRI. No one knew at this point. So watching this back just feels so special knowing what I have endured and overcome.
