Andy Robertson has been strongly linked with an exit from Liverpool with the club preparing to sign Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez – and Atletico Madrid are understood to be interested in the Scot

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has claimed he is unsure about his future at Anfield – after a report claimed Atletico Madrid had made the Scottish left-back one of their top targets this summer.

Robertson has been with the Reds since 2017 and has won almost every trophy possible at the club, but there has been criticisms over his recent performances and speculation the club could finally let him go after eight seasons.

Liverpool are closing in on the £45m signing of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, which will only ramp up speculation Robertson could depart.

Now La Liga side Atletico are said to be ready to pounce on the uncertainty surrounding the Scotland international, who is seen as the club’s ideal candidate.

Arne Slot still rates Robertson highly despite Kerkez’s impending arrival, which means the club won’t be willing to let him leave easily.

However, Robertson himself stirred the pot by admitting he was in the dark over where he would play next season during an interview earlier this week.

Speaking to Sky Sports News at his AR26 Charity day, Robertson said: “We have discussed [my future], of course we have. We’ve had good discussions, me and the club, but what the future holds, I’m not sure.

“All I know is I fly off on holiday and it’s well needed. I need a rest after a long season, and then I look forward to pre-season. That’s all my focus is. I can’t look too far ahead, I never have done that so I’m not going to start doing that now. I know the position I’m in, I know I’ve only got a year left.

“A lot’s getting spoken about it, a lot’s getting said, but my pure focus is focussing on being a dad for the next couple of weeks and enjoying that time with the kids. Then I’ll try and come back in the best shape possible for pre-season, and then we’ll see what the future holds when those decisions come.”

Robertson has one year left on his Liverpool contract and could end up leaving on a free transfer if he does not exit this summer.

Fellow left-back Kostas Tsimikas is another player who is being linked with making way for Kerkez should the Hungarian star arrive.

Robertson has played a total of 342 times for Liverpool since joining from Hull City eight years ago, scoring 11 goals.
