Antoine Semenyo tipped for blockbuster transfer amid Liverpool interest

Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo has enjoyed a fantastic start to the season and if he can keep it up, Troy Deeney is anticipating a massive move for the attacker

Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo has been tipped to earn a move to Real Madrid if he can maintain the form he has shown this season. Former Premier League striker Troy Deeney has been impressed by the forward but is uncertain whether Semenyo can maintain his efforts.

The Cherries ace has bagged six goals and three assists in nine Premier League matches this term after recording 11 goals and six assists in the division last season. Semenyo’s form has helped Bournemouth to a lightning start that sees them sit second in the table.

The south coast club knocked back multiple approaches for their star man in the summer as they permitted the likes of Milos Kerkez, Dean Huijsen, and Ilya Zabarnyi to leave for Liverpool, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, respectively.

Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool were all linked with a summer move for Ghana international Semenyo. Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim is even said to have met the player for dinner at the end of last season.

It has even been suggested Liverpool could make a move as soon as January. But Deeney reckons a move outside of the Premier League could yet take place for one of the division’s best performers.

“I just don’t know if Semenyo can keep it up – do you know what I mean?” Deeney told talkSPORT.

“If he does, then my God – he’ll probably end up playing for Real Madrid.

“But I think he’s very good, very powerful, very direct. I just don’t know whether he’ll keep it up.”

Semenyo signed a new five-year contract with Bournemouth in July. There is said to be a release clause within that deal, with nobody reaching the Cherries £75million valuation previously.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has played down any prospect of Semenyo’s potential exit. Asked about a release clause, the Spaniard didn’t give anything away.

“I don’t know anything about the contracts of the players. I don’t know how much they earn and don’t want to know either,” he said.

“The most important thing for me is that he continues playing well. If he does there will be more noise but it’s something we take if he’s playing well. My concern is to keep him in the spot where he’s playing well.”
