The Apple iPhone Air during an event at Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California, US, on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025. Apple Inc. introduced its iPhone 17 lineup, adding an all-new skinnier Air design and improving the devices' durability and camera technology.
The Apple iPhone Air will be available for pre-order on Friday, September 12.

Apple has finally unveiled its latest iPhone range. The tech giant held its annual showcase live from its California headquarters on Tuesday (September 9), where it launched the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air.

Pre-orders for each model will go live at 1pm on Friday, September 12, with availability starting from Friday, September 19. Retailers including Sky Mobile, EE, Mobiles.co.uk, Vodafone and Three have all confirmed they’ll be stocking the device, with prices to be confirmed.

Customers will also have the option to purchase the phones outright from Apple and Amazon starting this Friday, September 12. Arguably, the most eye-catching addition to the iPhone lineup is the iPhone Air, which is being touted as the thinnest iPhone ever and keen fans can read more in our first-look piece.

Apple has already set a starting price of £999 or £41.62 per month for this model, with other retailers expected to reveal their prices soon. Select retailers are inviting prospective buyers to register their interest ahead of Friday’s launch, with Mobiles.co.uk offering a £20 Currys gift card when shoppers register and pre-order.

For those keen to secure their iPhone Air pre-order on Friday, here are the links to save:

Tipping the scales at 165g and measuring just 5.1mm thick, this is the first Apple smartphone in the brand’s ‘Air’ range, a series of slim and lightweight devices which until now only included iPads and MacBooks. The iPhone Air is crafted with a Grade 5 titanium frame built with 80% recycled titanium, which Apple claims makes the handset ‘as strong as it is stunning’, reports the Daily Record.

The device also features a 6.5″ Super Retina XDR display, shielded by a durable Ceramic Shield on both the front and back, making it four times more crack-resistant and offering three times better scratch resistance than the iPhone 16, according to Apple. The gadget is powered by the latest-generation A19 Pro chip, which Apple claims is ‘the fastest processor in any smartphone’, ensuring even the most demanding tasks are handled smoothly.

The battery life of the iPhone has also been significantly improved, with the iPhone Air capable of delivering up to 27 hours of video playback on a single charge. It can also be charged to 50% in just half an hour.

For photography enthusiasts, the phone comes equipped with a 48MP Fusion camera system, providing two advanced cameras for capturing images in ‘super-high-resolution’, along with an 8MP Centre Stage front camera. The iPhone Air will be shipped with iOS 26 out of the box, which introduces standout features such as liquid glass, a striking new design that reflects and refracts what’s on screen.

At just 5.1mm, the iPhone Air is the thinnest iPhone ever.

There’s also a more vibrant and dynamic lock screen, call hold assist and call screening, which automatically answers unknown callers to ascertain their name and reason for calling before you pick up. Apple Intelligence is leading the way on the phone, with a plethora of AI features designed to simplify life, such as live translation, photo clean up and visual intelligence.

This allows users to search, ask questions and interact with the content on their iPhone screen. The iPhone Air comes in three storage options – 256GB, 512GB and 1TB – and is available in four stylish colours: Sky Blue, Cloud White, Light Gold and Space Black.
