Apple iPhone plummets by £320 as new model launches at ‘Awe Dropping’ event soon

The Apple iPhone 17 is hours away from being launched but for those not interested in the latest devices, there’s a deal worth looking at – and it’ll save shoppers hundreds

The iPhone 17 is just around the corner as Apple is set to host its ‘Awe Dropping’ event today, at 6pm. For those not keen on the latest gadgets, we’ve found a deal suited to cost-cutting iOS fans.

Giffgaff is offering a refurbished iPhone 16 for £350 less than the usual price. Starting at £479, with prices varying based on the condition of the device, it’s a fraction of the price compared to the usual £799 rate.

The cost can go up to £569 for devices that are in ‘like new’ condition. A chance for Apple shoppers to bag a saving on the iPhone, which is only a year old. Each year as the new iPhone is unveiled, it’s not unusual for the previous model to drop in price.

The selection includes a variety of colours, such as white, black, ultramarine, and more. They also come with a 12-month warranty, providing shoppers with peace of mind despite the devices being refurbished.

Furthermore, giffgaff guarantees that each device has passed a thorough 30-point health check and assures at least 80% battery health on the iPhones it sells. The phones are also unlocked to any network, allowing shoppers to add their own SIM plan if they prefer.

In his verdict, he said: “This is the ultimate iPhone upgrade that comes highly recommended. Some other of my top-rated additions to the iPhone 16 include a bigger battery, faster wireless charging (you will need a new MagSafe puck for this to work) and much longer time between refills.”

As with any mobile launch, however, there were a few things which he said could be improved. As he highlighted: “The display is excellent but it’s also our biggest gripe about the iPhone 16 as it still only offers a measly 60Hz refresh rate. If you’ve ever used the iPhone Pro’s ProMotion display you’ll know what a difference this 120Hz technology makes when flicking through content, whizzing around websites or scrolling through your apps.”
