Apple looks set to launch its iPhone 17 later this year and some new images may show what is to come.

It’s already been a busy start to the year for Apple with the US firm releasing it’s more wallet-friendly iPhone 16e along with a new MacBook Air and a number of iPads. Now all attention will start turning to the next big release and it could definitely be one to watch out for.

If the usual launch cycle is followed, we could see the next generation of flagship iPhones being unveiled in September, and there could be one major difference in 2025. Experts believe that along with a new iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro range being shown to the world, Apple could also showcase a totally new device called the iPhone 17 Air.

As the name suggests, this gadget looks set to be slimmer than current models and it might be just what a lot of fans are looking for. Of course, Apple never reveals anything until the big day but tech addicts may have just got their first glimpse of how skinny this smartphone will be.

Photos, which have been posted on X (formerly Twitter ) by tech expert Sonny Dickson, show what appears to be a dummy version of the iPhone 17 Air placed alongside the more chunky iPhone 17 and 17 Pro.

As you can see in the images, the difference is pretty sizeable, with the Air looking far skinnier than anything we’ve seen before.

The photos seem to be solid units used by case makers to makers and accessory firms to make sure their products fit the new iPhones at launch. That means we can’t see the display, colours or what the devices will be made from. However, one big rumour that has been made is that the iPhone 17 Air could be the very first phone to lose all of its ports. That means no USB-C connector, with users refilling it via wireless MagSafe charging instead.

Apple has a habit of being the first to make pretty radical changes. Back in 2016, Apple removed the headphone port on the iPhone 7, and this was followed by the iPhone 12 missing the charger.

We’ll have to wait and see how close the picture is to reality, but Dickson has a pretty good track record of getting things right.

Along with showing off that slimline design, the images also reveal how the camera bump might be transformed in 2025 with the Pro models appearing to get a snapper that goes right across the rear of the phone – a bit like Google’s Pixel devices.

All of the iPhone models seem to be keeping the Camera Control button, which was launched on the iPhone 16 last year, and they appear to have screen sizes similar to the current range.

If you love all things iPhone, expect plenty more rumours in the coming months as the big reveal approaches.
