Dusan Vlahovic is being linked with another move to Arsenal, who remain in need of a prolifice centre-forward, having chosen to join Juventus instead two years ago

Arsenal are being urged to renew their interest in Dusan Vlahovic by former defender Philippe Senderos, who reckons the Juventus striker could prove the difference for Mikel Arteta ’s side.

The Gunners remain without Bukayo Saka for several more weeks and Gabriel Jesus will not play again this season, placing an even heavier burden on Kai Havertz to find a more regular scoring touch.

Arteta’s mean have been linked with centre forwards for much of the past two years, including Vlahovic before he moved to Turin and became Serie A’s highest paid player.

But things have not worked out perfectly for Vlahovic at the Old Lady and Senderos reckons Arsenal should revisit the potential of bringing him to north London.

“Dusan Vlahovic could take Arsenal closer to the title, but Mikel Arteta has a clear idea of how he wants to play and who he wants in that nine position,’ Senderos told CasinoHawks .

“We’ve seen Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz there, but Vlahovic is a fantastic player who has performed in the Italian league and been a success. It’s difficult to judge him this season, but he could certainly have a big impact in the Premier League, why not.”

Serbia international Vlahovic, 24, has an asking price of about €65m (£53m) according to Italian media but Juve are more likely to do a deal in the summer.

Arsenal host Aston Villa this afternoon after league leaders Liverpool face Brentford away, meaning they could both kick off seven points behind or with an opportunity to close the gap to a single point.

But Senderos insists that after the midweek north London derby win his former side are right in the mix. “Arsenal are still in this title race. I also think Manchester City will also come back into it,” he added.

“Liverpool have done very well and adapted well under Arne Slot, but anything can happen in the Premier League and it’s far from over yet. Nottingham Forest had a great chance to upset them and that has made things even more exciting.”
