Arsenal will have to regroup over the summer break after seeing their dreams of wining the Champions League for the first time dashed by Paris Saint-Germain on a cruel night at the Parc des Princes.

The Gunners headed to Paris 1-0 down from the first leg of their semi-final tie and started the game like a house on fire. But in the end they succumbed to Luis Enrique’s vibrant attacking side, who won 2-1 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate.

Mikel Arteta’s men have also had to endure another near miss when it comes to the Premier League title and signings are expected in the summer transfer window to help Arsenal in their quest to land their first domestic title in over 20 years.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer news and gossip from in and around The Emirates…

Arteta eyes £17m star

Arsenal are ready to launch a €20million (£17m) swoop for Valencia defender, Cristhian Mosquera. The 20-year-old centre-back has attracted interest from a number of suitors across Europe including the Gunners, who are ‘preparing an offer’ according to Cadena Ser.

Mosquera is not short on admirers with Atletico Madrid and Villarreal also sniffing around the youngster. But their interest does not seem to phase Arsenal, who are said to be ‘confident of being able to negotiate’ with Valencia for Mosquera once the transfer window opens officially at the start of next month.

Saliba plan emerges

Real Madrid may be interested in prising William Saliba away from Arsenal but the Gunners’ new sporting director, Andrea Berta, is aiming to accelerate contract talks with the sought after French defender.

Saliba has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top centre-backs since finally breaking his way into Mikel Arteta’s first-team plans and interest from Real Madrid has been well documented in recent months.

L’Equipe report that Los Blancos have already ‘planted the seed’ for a future move – but that has only led to Berta stepping up his own attempts to convince the 24-year-old to commit his future to Arsenal.

Keown’s transfer message

Martin Keown says Arsenal have suffered without a proper striker(Image: X/ TNT Sports)

Martin Keown has bemoaned Arsenal’s lack of a striker after watching his former team come up short in the Champions League semi-finals against PSG.

Mikel Merino has deputised for Arsenal up front with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus both out injured and Keown made it clear that it was the team’s lack of options in terms of a No.9 that cost them dear.

Speaking on TNT Sports, he said: “You have to hold your hands up to PSG. Hakimi, what a player he is. Arsenal can be proud of what they have done this season in our second year back in the Champions League. But it has caught up with us that we don’t have a proper centre-forward, two of them are out tonight.
