Mystic Vangeliya Pandeva Gushterova, better known as Baba Vanga, made several predictions during her lifetime, including the death of Princess Diana and 9/11 – and several for 2024 came true

Several chilling predictions made by blind mystic Baba Vanga appear to have come true this year, as she foresaw the economic crisis and the worsening climate crisis gripping the world.

Also known as Vangeliya Pandeva Gushterova, Baba was a blind Bulgarian clairvoyant who became famous in Eastern Europe in the mid-twentieth century for her alleged powers of precognition. She was born in 1911 and lost her sight when she was just 12 years old after a storm hit her village, after which she claimed to be able to see into the future. She died in 1996.

She made several predictions for 2024, several of which seem to have been correct. One of her forecasts was of an economic crisis which would cause rising tensions worldwide.

Although the UK’s economy grew a little this year, many people are continuing to have to rely on foodbanks to feed themselves and their families. Uncertainty reins around the world, with billions struggling financially amid inflation and job layoffs. Although not a slam dunk of a prediction, it could be argued Baba’s prediction was not far off the mark.

Another of her visions for 2024 was the alarming climate crisis, as she pointed towards “environmental challenges” which few can argue with. With a little over a week to go until the new year, 2024 is on course to be the warmest on record.

Worldwide there have been extreme weather events which have cost the lives of countless people. Recently, in Valencia, huge amounts of rain sparked deadly floods which covered areas which had never flooded before, turning streets into fast flowing rivers in mere minutes.

Elsewhere, several countries in Europe experienced record rainfall in September, including Poland, Czechia, Austria, Romania, Hungary, Germany and Slovakia. In the Americas exceptionally warm ocean temperatures sparked an early category five storm, known as Hurricane Beryl, in June – the earliest on record. It left a trail of destruction across the Caribbean and finally hit areas of Texas in July, bringing storm surges.

The typhoon season in the Philippines brought six massive storms in a month, affecting millions of people. Extreme heat in Mexico killed hundreds of people, to name a few instances from a devastating twelve months – just as Baba suggested.

Another prediction that proved ominously accurate was for there to have been medical advancements for cancer and Alzheimer’s. In 2024, doctors created new tests to detect cancer in those under the age of 18 as well in the treatment of cervical cancer.

This year there was also new hope for those with Alzheimer’s as clinical trials showed it can be slowed. In the UK, the first ever disease modifying treatments were approved for use.

One of her predictions which does not seem to have come true this year is of the use of biological weapons used by a powerful nation. Although the world continues to peter on the precipice of war, thanks to the likes of Russia, it seems as though – for now – there is a step they will not go to.

Judging by her predictions for 2025, next year could be both exciting – and devastating. Baba says a war will break out in Europe between two countries at some point.

Another suggests human telepathy will become real and she also reckons aliens will make contact with humans for the first time – bizarrely during a major sporting event.
