Tracey Connelly, speaking publicly for the first time since being jailed for her 17-month-old son Peter’s death, has revealed she visited a sex club after leaving prison
Baby P mum Tracey Connelly has admitted she has an interest in BDSM fetishes and said she visited a sex club when she was released from prison.
The 44-year-old – jailed for allowing the barbaric death of her son in 2007 – admitted she had exchanged “titillating” messages after she was released from prison in 2022.
Connelly appeared before a Parole Board panel today to give her first public account of Peter’s death, more than 18 years after he died from a catalogue of harrowing injuries. The Parole Board panel quizzed her on her relationships and sexual interests as they decided if she should be released or moved to an open prison.
It emerged she was recalled in August last year after striking up a secret 12-month relationship online with a man in which they exchanged sexually explicit messages.
She said she hid her dark past from him before meeting him for sex, cinema and food. When the fling was exposed, she was thrown back in jail for failing to inform probation services about the relationship.
But she admitted they had swapped messages about BDSM fetishes, although never “did any of that” but said “it was to titillate both of us”.
Despite wearing a tag to monitor her location, she admitted visiting a sex club, saying: “I went to a sex club but it was to see what it was like. It was a quiet day, no-one was engaging in anything. I was not in a hurry to go back.”
Speaking about her interest in BDSM, she said: “It’s not about all the kinkiness and all the craziness. It’s about trusting someone enough to let go.”
She added: “I discovered it in a book years ago. It’s just something that I have read about and found it interesting. For me it’s about having a partner who you can trust enough to give up control.
“Because I spend every minute of every day being in control of myself, trying to make sure I don’t negatively impact someone or do something wrong. I’ve been the strong one for as long as I can remember… It’s an intimacy thing.”
Connelly, 44, was jailed for at least five years in 2009 for causing or allowing the death of Peter. She was released from prison in 2013 but recalled just two years later after selling nude pictures of herself online.
Despite a backlash, Connelly again was freed in 2022 and she was made subject to 20 licence conditions. But in August last year, she found herself back behind bars after she started a relationship with a man she met online without telling officials supervising her.
Her prison offender manager (POM) said the vile mum had deleted material from her phone to avoid officials finding out about her relationship.
She also struck up an intense 12-month fling with a woman in prison – which included kissing and cuddling – but she was moved to another wing when it became public. Connelly said she exchanged “jail mail” – letters passed between cells – in which they continued their relationship.
Talking about her sex life, Connelly told the panel: “I don’t want a relationship that adheres to strict monogamy.”
The hearing continues.
