An eight-year-old boy found living among a pack of wild dogs turned to the animals in a desperate bid for “socialisation” after he was neglected in Thailand. Police discovered the child living in a filthy hut in Northern Thailand after his family, who were using drugs, left the dogs to care for him.

Authorities said the feral boy was found during a raid on the hut earlier this week, where he had been living with his mum and his 23-year-old brother. According to locals, the boy turned to the dogs for socilisation and ended up “barking” like them.

His local school had raised concerns with child rights activist Paveena Hongsakul, who escalated the case to the local police.

Paveena explained that the boy “didn’t speak, he just barked” “It was pitiful to see,” she added.

His mum did not allow him to attend school and only went in on one occasion to collect a government support grant that was supposed to be spent on his education.

Speaking to Khaosod English, Paveena said: “His mother hasn’t allowed him to go to school since he received a subsidy for free education.

“After getting the money, she simply kept him at home.”

According to locals, the mum was seen begging for change and food in the area, with families restricting their children’s access to the boy, due to the mother’s behaviour.

Thailand’s Education Ministry and Lap Lae police officers conducted the joint operation on June 30, which saw the adults charged with drug consumption after failing urine tests. The boy was taken into the care of a local children’s home.

She said: “The boy will be given a chance at a good life. We’ll follow up with him to make sure he gets everything he needs.”

The tragic story comes after a dad drowned his baby son in laundry detergent, leaving him sealed in the bucket next to the kitchen bin, all to teach his wife a ‘lesson.’

Eliasard Moneus, 29, is to serve 92 years in an Indiana state correctional facility after cruelly drowning his baby boy, Jacob, in a vat of detergent, “sealing the lid and leaving the boy to die.”

“It doesn’t really get worse than this,” Tippecanoe County Deputy Prosecutor Elyse Madigan said. “A father put his 3-month-old son face down in a bucket of laundry detergent, sealed the lid, left his son to die, and then went to the next room and viciously attacked the baby’s mother. Jacob drowned in the bucket swallowing 100 ml of detergent while he died.”
