Police have swarmed a General Election count over fears of fraud.

Three ballot papers have reportedly been seized in Emirates Arena in Glasgow. Two of the alleged incidents are reportedly being investigated in the Glasgow South West seat and one reportedly in Glasgow West.

The offence of voter fraud occurs when a person is accused of voting as someone else.

A spokesman for the council said: “Over the course of the day, we have received four reports of potential personation at polling places.

“The police subsequently asked us to extract three ballot papers from the count and this was done when the relevant ballot boxes arrived at the count centre.”
