Queen musician Brian May revealed that he’d suffered a stroke in September, and actress Anita Dobson revealed how he was faring months later – alongside describing their major lifestyle change

EastEnders star Anita Dobson, 75, opened up about how her husband’s doing months after he suffered a “scary” stroke.

Queen legend Brian May, 77, announced on Instagram in September that he’d had a stroke. After losing control of his arm and being told to relax and rest after leaving hospital, Anita revealed that he’s recovering well and getting back to action.

The actress shared that the year didn’t get off to the best start, with both she and Brian taking a health hit after catching the flu. However, she told The Sun: “Brian is stable now. Brian has never been happier since we moved.”

Anita then shared more details about moving from London to the country. She gushed that while the transition was more of a shock for her, Brian “loves” their new lifestyle, and is keeping busy feeding all of the animals living around them. Alongside having been to Lapland at the beginning of the year, she added that she and Brian were heading out to Switzerland soon to see friends.

“But apart from that we are just chilling at the moment and spending time at home is quite good,” she summarised. Anita noted that Brian’s stroke had been a big wakeup call, saying: “It makes you realise that at any minute it could be you. You don’t have to necessarily be old, It could be anyone.”

The Doctor Who star encouraged: “You have to live every day as if it was your last. It’s not easy to do that. You forget and think I’ve got another week and it’s all booked up, you have to be aware that life is precious and with life changing so fast we are all on a bit of a thin thread if you like.”

Brian revealed the troubling news about his stroke last autumn, sharing a video in which he shared an update but showed off his high spirits as he started his recovery. “I hope you’re all well out there. I’m here to bring you first of all some good news.

“I think good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days and I say this because it was in some doubt because that little health hiccup that I mentioned happened about a week ago and what they called it was a minor stroke and all of a sudden – out of the blue – I didn’t have any control over this arm so was a little scary.”

He joked: “I have to say I had the most fantastic care and attention from Frimley Hospital where I went blue lights flashing… the lot. Very exciting!

“So, good news is I’m okay. Just doing what I’m told which is basically nothing. I’m grounded I’m not allowed to go out – well I’m not allowed to drive, not allowed to get on a plane, not allowed to raise the heart rate too high, not allowed to have planes flying over, which will stress me. But I’m good.”
