A woman has been praised for how she handled an entitled bride who ordered her to shave her dog’s fur for her wedding – but she outright refused and took a stand instead
A woman has slammed an entitled bride for ordering her to shave her dog so the animal fits into her ocean-themed wedding. The 26-year-old explained how she was invited to her now ex-best friend’s wedding – but says the 27-year-old bride went ‘overboard’ with her demands in the run up to her big day.
She said on Reddit: “My ex-best friend, Kelsey, demanded I shave my dachshund, Mercedes, because her ‘natural colours’ clashed with the ‘Ocean Magic’ aesthetic of her beach wedding. Mercedes was supposed to be the flower dog.” Stunned her former friend would put her wedding above her dog’s health and wellbeing, she decided against attending altogether.
With that, the bride booted her out of the group chat and sent her a “wild message” about her refusing to shave her dog’s fur – stressing how ‘it would grow back’.
But rather than get revenge, she decided to ‘kill her with kindness’, hoping this would teach her friend a lesson while she stayed true to herself.
She added: “I decided to be petty with grace, I gave her a wedding gift. Boxed up my £300 bridesmaid dress, the custom sea-glass collar Mercedes was supposed to wear, and a card that had just a smiley face on it, and labelled it ‘for the blushing bride’.”
Following the wedding, she met up with a friend, who served as a groomsman, and he made sure to fill her in on every detail of the day.
She added: “Apparently they had no backup flower dog. None. Kelsey assumed I’d cave and show up with a bald Mercedes like I was bringing a rotisserie chicken in a leash.
“Kelsey and her (now) husband even paused the ceremony for a bit thinking I had run late, but no I was not running late I was instead driving me and Mercedes back home with the windows down playing Taylor Swift
“The groom, who apparently has OCD, got visibly agitated because there were 6 groomsmen and only 5 bridesmaids. The symmetry was off and he was not doing well. Leo said he kept muttering, ‘This is all wrong’ during the photos.”
Not only that – the bride’s mum asked a “random toddler from a guest family” to walk down the aisle holding seashells to “fill the flower role”.
She said: “The toddler tripped. Chaos ensued No one outside the bridal party knew what actually happened. Not until this afternoon, when I posted a picture of Mercedes (in her untouched, unbothered glory) on Facebook along with the screenshots of Kelsey’s messages. I tagged her.
“The caption? ‘Mercedes says she’s sorry she couldn’t ruin your aesthetic. She prefers having fur’.”
All while this was unfolding, she says she was relaxing on a beach with a drink in hand, while Mercedes sat beside her “proudly unshaved and wearing her collar like a crown”.
So in the end, the bride’s entitlement ended up coming back to haunt her! And people took to the comments section to share their thoughts.
Commenting on her post, one user said: “Imagine being at a wedding and seeing a bald weenie waddling down the aisle. What? How is that anyone’s aesthetic?”
Another user added: “Wow, the entitlement to ask you to shave your dog. I’m glad you are enjoying the beach together.” A third user said: “Go you for standing your ground. She sounds off her head.”
