TikTok star Simon Wilko is a self-professed picky eater, but she received backlash online after she questioned some of the food at her all-inclusive in Cyprus
A teenager received backlash online when she slammed the buffet at her all-inclusive hotel. Brit holidayer Simon Wilko was in Cyprus with her mum and boyfriend earlier this month when she shared her lunch online.
Simone’s lunch included an “awful” range of vegetables and traditional local foods. After choosing some pork stirfry and BBQ ribs, a plate of chips and pitta bread, Simone said in a TikTok video that there was “so much to choose from, but at the same time there wasn’t”. It comes after a flight attendant urged tourists to always leave a shoe in their hotel room safe.
She said: “I understand that I’m in a different country, but what on earth are these foods?” The video then showed some stuffed courgettes.

She added: “They look absolutely awful, I’m not going to lie. I couldn’t think of anything worse.”
The 19-year-old also revealed the choice of black eye beans with Swiss chards, and asked “what on earth is this?”. At another counter, Simone was presented with a four-cheese pizza, also known as “pizza quattro formaggi”, which she branded a disappointment because it was not a margherita and it had “weird cheese”.
Simone, who says she is a “picky eater” then avoided the chicken because it was “pink” near the bone. She also said she does not like the taste of seasoning.
Simone said some of the desserts looked “delicious” and enjoyed her chocolate crunch cake. She said her coco pops dessert was “disgusting”, however.
Irked internet users criticised Simone for her choices and reaction to the foods. “Try Cornwall babes,” one person said.
Another said: “’I’m a very picky eater but this seems disrespectful.” One person also wrote: “‘What on earth are these foods’ and it’s literally just vegetables.”
But others leapt to her defence. One person said: “I’m not a picky eater but that food doesn’t look very appetising.”
Simone is not the only abroad Brit to spark a debate. A mum‑of‑six faced backlash after she filmed herself reserving sunbeds for her whole family by the pool at dawn while on holiday in Spain, only to leave the hotel for the day.
Stephanie, a mum who shares TikTok videos documenting her life with five boys and one girl, recently took a trip to Fuerteventura in Las Palmas, on the Canary Islands. She showed her morning routine: laying towels on sunbeds before enjoying breakfast and popping out to the shops, all before even thinking about returning to the pool.
In the video, Stephanie explained that she hadn’t yet had her annual leave approved, and suggested that her daughter had been taken out of school during term time. Wading into a contentious issue that can spark arguments even among the most mild‑mannered holidaymakers, she described how she wakes up, reserves the sunbeds, and then heads out.
“We have come as a big family, so we have to be there early,” the mum said. After Stephanie and her family finished their meal, they went shopping before returning to reclaim their reserved sun loungers. While Stephanie and her family enjoyed their day out before some restful time by the pool, the TikTok clip divided viewers.
