Edward Pettifer, 31, whose father is married to Tiggy Legge-Bourke, was named as one of fourteen people killed after an SUV crashed into crowds in New Orleans on New Year’s Day

A British man who was killed in the New Orleans terror attack along with 13 others has been named as the stepson of Prince William and Harry’s former nanny.

Edward Pettifer, 31, from Chelsea, west London, was the eldest son of Charles Pettifer, 59, a former Coldstream Guards officer, and Camilla Wyatt, 58, the daughter of a racehorse breeder. Charles later married Tiggy Legge-Bourke, 59, who was a nanny to William and Harry from 1993 until 1999.

Known to loved-ones as Ed, the 31-year-old is believed to have attended the prestigious Stowe School and lived in a property off the King’s Road in Chelsea, west London, with his mum and brother Harry, aged 29.

In a statement, his devastated family described him as “a wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew and a friend to so many.”

They added: “We will all miss him terribly. Our thoughts are with the other families who have lost their family members due to this terrible attack. We request that we can grieve the loss of Ed as a family in private.”

Dozens of people were injured and 14 were killed when 42-year-old army veteran Shamsud-Din Jabbar’s rented SUV rammed into a crowd in the early hours of New Year’s Day on the state’s famous Bourbon Street. He was shot and killed by police officers after what they described as a “very intentional” act.
