Exclusive:

A flat in London situated near Harrods and Buckingham Palace and whose previous owners include Kylie Minogue is on the market – but will cost would-be buyers £175m

Britain’s most expensive flat has hit the market with a record price tag of £175 million – buying you Tom Cruise as a neighbour and breathtaking views.

The price will be Mission: Impossible to all but the world ’s richest, but the buyer will be treated to 18,000 sq ft of luxury, plus five beds and just as many loos. It is situated in luxury development One Hyde Park – a stone’s throw from Harrods and Buckingham Palace.

Top Gun A-lister Cruise is among those who have bought in the building. Previous inhabitants include pop queen Kylie, Ukraine ’s wealthiest man Rinat Akhmetov and supermodel Naomi Campbell’s former-boyfriend Vladislav Doron.

If sold for the £175 million asking price, the gaff would surpass the last most expensive sale in the UK of a penthouse at the address – which sold for £160 million in 2018. The lucky owner will get rooms with 26ft-high ceilings, a wine ‘cellar’, glass fireplaces and a Japanese-inspired kitchen with black forest granite worktops.

The luxe lodgings – spanning the 10th and 11th floor – also come complete with a cocktail bar, pool table, home cinema and a private spa. The estate agent’s listing describes the home as being in “one of the most exclusive developments in the world.”

It continues: “The penthouse is one of the finest residential real estate assets in London, offering unparalleled lateral living space, in a super prime location.”

The property is reportedly being quietly touted to rich potential buyers, but the new owner may never be revealed as many purchase through offshore companies to remain anonymous. Similarly the seller’s details are not known as the property is registered off shore.

One Hyde Park was developed by billionaire property tycoon brothers Nick and Christian Candy in 2010. Nick is wed to ex-soap star Holly Valance. The site’s 86 apartments have commanded premium prices ever since the first apartment sold for a cool £140 million the same year.

Other facilities on offer to residents include a 21-metre swimming pool, gym, golf simulator, valet service and room service – via a tunnel from the five-star Mandarin Oriental hotel next door. In January, government figures showed the average price of a flat was £248,000. A one bed in Kirkby, Liverpool, offered with a balcony and gated parking, is listed on Rightmove with an asking price of £35,000.
