Leslie Green was tragically struck down with salmonella while staying at the Occidental Jandia Playa resort hotel in Fuerteventura to celebrate his 70th birthday

A Brit dad died at a luxury hotel after eating a “half-cooked” chicken and contracting a nasty disease, an inquest has heard.

Leslie Green, 70, died after contracting salmonella during a stay at the Occidental Jandia Playa resort in Fuerteventura as he celebrated his milestone birthday with his family.

The grandfather-of-one fell ill during the second week of the £2,300 holiday, and was admitted to a Spanish hospital where he developed complications, including sepsis and kidney failure.

Leslie, of Little Lever, Bolton, Greater Manchester, passed away in hospital around four weeks later from multi-organ failure.
