Ponga in the Asturias region is offering Brits £2,477 to live in the region, and will add another £2,477 for every baby born. The area is a haven of mountain hikes and stunning beaches.
A serene region in Spain is enticing Brits with an offer of nearly £2,500 to relocate there, along with an additional bonus for every new addition to the family.
Ponga, located in Asturias, is extending an invitation to British citizens with a sum of £2,477 to settle in the area, and will further add another £2,477 for each baby born.
In addition to this, Euronews reveals that residents can benefit from a 60 per cent reduction in their IBI (local property tax) and a whopping 95 per cent discount on the Tax on the Increase in the Value of Urban Land for inherited properties.
Ponga also offers social housing at a modest £41.64 per month for those keen on launching a business or project in the village. To avail of this generous offer, Brits must commit to residing in Ponga for a minimum of five years.
However, this doesn’t seem like much of a compromise considering Ponga’s breathtaking beauty, offering awe-inspiring hikes, easy access to some of the world’s most stunning beaches, and prime spots for bird watching, reports the Express.
Wayne Mills, the Head of Operations at Seven Seas Worldwide, commented: “Ponga may be slightly off the beaten path for tourists, but its mountainous landscape is absolutely jaw-dropping.
“It’s the ideal place to live harmoniously with nature – and the region produces incredible wines!
“It’s a win-win situation: you get a fresh start and a helping hand, while local economies receive a much-needed boost.”
The town is nestled within a UNESCO-designated biosphere reserve in the encompassing Cantabrian Mountains. The region offers several breathtaking hikes amid wildflowers and gently flowing rivers, as well as towering mountains.
One such hike is the 9.2-kilometre circular Ruta del Valle de Ponga route which commences just outside San Juan de Beleno, conveniently close to the town hall, and meanders through the woodland.
Regarded as moderately challenging, the trail is a favourite during the summer months but becomes less crowded in the shoulder season.
The path is accessible all year round and is a delight to visit at any time. Dogs are welcome, but they must be kept on a leash.
In addition to the stunning landscape, Ponga also boasts an impressive 2000 hours of sunlight annually, providing ample opportunity for sunbathing.
