Technology experts warn that there are two items that could be disrupting your Wi-Fi signal and slowing it down
Ever wondered why your Wi-Fi changes its speed by moving your router from one location to another?
Well, there seems to be some science behind it, and this life hack will improve your connection. If you’ve noticed your Wi-Fi is a bit sluggish, the solution might be simpler than you think.
While slow speeds can often be down to your internet provider or an outdated package, everyday household items around your router could also be affecting your connection. Tech experts have revealed that where you place your router can make the difference between smooth online browsing and endless buffering, whether you’re streaming films, gaming, or working from home.

Audio Technica boffins have now warned that having devices like Bluetooth speakers too close to your router could cause issues, as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signals can interfere with each other.
This happens because Bluetooth gadgets and Wi-Fi routers work on similar radio frequencies. When lots of devices are fighting for the same signal space, it can create a kind of digital traffic jam, which can then slow down your internet.
Their support page explained: “Many Wi-Fi routers transmit on multiple channels simultaneously, and if there are excessive Wi-Fi signals in close proximity taking up most of the spectrum, your Bluetooth devices may not have any open spectrum to frequency hop to. This is a common cause of Bluetooth interference. Moving your Bluetooth devices away from Wi-Fi signals will help maximise the performance.”

Before you consider switching providers or shelling out for faster broadband, try moving your router to a more central location in your home, ideally away from the kitchen and any thick walls that could block the signal, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Interestingly, it’s not just Bluetooth devices that can cause problems. Microwaves also operate on similar frequencies and can interfere with Wi-Fi performance.
For the best possible speeds, it’s recommended to keep your router well away from both Bluetooth devices and your microwave.
