Tiffany Eglin, who played Rachel Jordache in Brookside, has barely aged a day since she left the Channel 4 soap 21 years ago, as she ditches the spotlight for a ‘normal’ job away from TV

Brookside, the Liverpool-based soap opera that was a massive hit in the 1980s and 1990s, is remembered fondly by British TV audiences. The show, which was cancelled in 2003 following a slump in ratings, was known for its ground-breaking storylines, including the first pre-watershed lesbian kiss and a harrowing tale of domestic abuse ending in murder. Tiffany Eglin, formerly known as Tiffany Chapman and now 45, portrayed Rachel Jordache on Brookside. She has since left the limelight for a ‘normal’ job away from television, but a recent photo shared on social media by a fellow Brookside star showed that Tiffany hasn’t aged a bit.

Her character Rachel moved onto the Liverpool-set cul-de-sac with her mother, Mandy, played by Sandra Maitland, and older sister, Beth, played by award-winning actress Anna Friel. They were escaping her physically and sexually abusive father, Trevor Jordache, played by Bryan Murray, who was about to be released from serving a prison sentence for assaulting Mandy. In 1993, a storyline that captivated the nation unfolded when Trevor was released from prison and found the family. The abuse resumed, physically towards Mandy and sexually towards Rachel, until eventually Beth and her mother devised a plan to kill him.

He caught them putting painkillers in his drink and began to beat up Beth, but Mandy stabbed him and they buried his body under the patio. Tiffany, whose character went on to marry Mike Dixon and have a baby, left the soap in 2003 when the show ended, reports OK!.

Soap star Tiffany Chapman, famed as Cindy Burton in Emmerdale and also known for her roles in Brookside, Hollyoaks, and Doctors, dazzled in a chic red dress at a recent gathering. The celebration, captured in photos by fellow actress Alexandra Fletcher, was in honor of their former Brookside co-star Vince Earl’s 80th birthday.

Fletcher, aged 48, took to social media with heartfelt sentiment: “Happy 80th birthday Vince my heart is full celebrating with you and your lovely family and of course the Brookie family too.”

“I Love you Vince the best on screen dad anyone could have ever asked for x Where have the years gone! ! ! Reunion Dixon Dixons x.”

Fans were quick to express their delight at seeing the actors together again. One mentioned: “OMG look at you all. Bring back Brookie.”

Another noted the lack of ageing: “Mike Dixon and Rachel Jordache actors look like they’ve never aged.”

A third commented: “Lovely to see the Brookie cast, haven’t aged a bit! ” In a fun twist to her career, Tiffany starred in a series of Halifax bank adverts back in 2016 where she featured alongside the iconic cartoon character Top Cat in the role of a bank teller offering mortgages.

However, Tiffany, the daughter of ex-footballer Les Chapman, now leads a rather ‘ordinary’ life. Reports suggest she’s currently employed as a dental receptionist at Apollonia House Dental and Healthcare in Oldham, looking just as she did during her Brookside stint.

The Sun revealed that Tiffany’s profile picture on the company’s website features her side-profile, showcasing a radiant smile.
