Butlin’s is opening a new £1.8million soft play centre and puppet theatre at its Bognor Regis resort, complete with ‘Skyline Gang’ themed sections and sensory experiences

Butlin’s is opening its biggest ever indoor soft play centre and puppet theatre space at its Bognor Regis resort.

Due to open in time for Easter, the new indoor soft play centre and puppet theatre cost £1.8 million, and will build on £30 million of investment in new openings in 2024. The new space has over double the capacity that the current soft play centre has at the Bognor Regis site and will offer soft, interactive and sensory place across four storeys and over 3,000 square feet.

Up to 200 children can play in the space and there is also a 100-person seating area. The interactive and sensory soft play centre will be eight metres high and split into three distinctively designed spaces for babies, toddlers and juniors.

The play centre will be included in the price of a family break, as well as day passes and it is themed around the colourful character of Butlin’s Skyline Gang. Each member of the Skyline Gang will have a section, which will be packed with climbing challenges, slides, log ramps, cargo nets and more, plus a multi-sensory space for babies.

Also opening before Easter is a dedicated puppet theatre space, with classic string puppet shows. Shows for 2025 include Under the Sea, Jingle in the Jungle and Christmouse Wonderland. The Puppet Castle shows are also included in the price of a family break and day passes.

Butlin’s also recently opened its PLAYXPERIENCE at the Bognor Regis resort, which is a £15 million, indoor activity centre featuring nine gaming experiences. At the Minehead resort, SKYPARK was also recently opened — a playground designed to be inclusive and interactive for all children. New premium lodges have also been added at the Skegness resort.

This year, Easter half-term family breaks will be headline by Gladiators, and other entertainment includes The Masked Singer Live. Butlin’s is current running 25 per cent off family breaks in 2025, across all three resorts. The offer ends on January 14.

Jon Hendry Pickup, CEO at Butlin’s, said: “We’re excited to open our biggest ever Soft Play and Puppet Theatre space this Easter. With both included in the price, they have always been popular with our guests. These incredible new spaces are bright, fun and full of personality just like the Skyline Gang and their performances which are always a standout part of family’s breaks.

“2025 is set to be our best year yet. There’s brand-new entertainment and headline performers across all breaks, whether it is a family holiday or adult only Big Weekender. For many guests this year will be the first time they will experience the recent new openings which include PLAYXPERIENCE activity centre in Bognor Regis, SKYPARK in Minehead or the Maple Walk accommodation village in Skegness.”
