Nearly 1,500 Call of Duty players reported issues with the popular game this evening, with some saying they were experiencing server connection problems and others unable to log in
Popular video game Call of Duty is down, with some users saying they have been left unable to log in.
Down Detector, which monitors issues and outages online, has seen a spike in reports relating to outages related to the military first-person shooter game. As of 6pm this evening, nearly 1,500 users submitted reports on the website, mentioning problems with the server connection, login and game play.
The website shows 67 per cent of users were reporting problems with the server connection and 30 per cent said they couldn’t log into the game. A further three per cent reported problems with game play, as shown on Down Detector.
Players also shared their frustration on social media, with one writing on X, formerly called Twitter: “@CallofDuty games down?” One more tweeted: “Is call of duty down or something i cant enter the game suddenly keeps saying Timed out fetching profile error Pur Lake or something like that.”
Another added: “Restarted the PlayStation 3 times now, I’ve been told the servers down on PlayStation.” Someone else said: “Won’t let us on GTA either. Full network down???”
Players have been jumping into the latest Call of Duty title in their droves, with Black Ops 6 enjoying a successful launch, particularly if the PC player count is any indication, with website SteamDB revealing that Activision’s newest title enjoyed a peak player count of over 306,000 players on Steam during launch week, comfortably exceeding the 190,000 players that MW3 drew in during the same period last year.
Of course, these numbers don’t include any players who are enjoying the game on PlayStation and Xbox, but considering the FPS is the first Call of Duty title to launch on Xbox Game Pass on day one, it would be no surprise if the game is more popular than last year’s title on console too.
And while players have been able to enjoy Black Ops 6’s new gameplay innovations, like the game-changing Omnimovement feature, in the title’s single-player campaign, multiplayer and Zombies modes, Warzone players are still having to make do with now year-old MW3 integration. But, they won’t have to for much longer, as the new Warzone is set to launch on November 14.
