Capital XTRA presenter Will Njobvu is quitting his Saturday breakfast show

Capital FM has been hit with more chaos as another big name has quit a day after Roman Kemp presented his last ever Breakfast show.

Capital XTRA presenter Will Njobvu – who is the first openly gay host to work on the station – has announced that he is quitting his Saturday breakfast show to focus on TV and digital projects.

It comes a day after Roman Kemp marked his final day on the Breakfast show today after ten successful years in the realm. Throughout those past ten years, Roman has interviewed huge stars including Harry Styles, Kylie Minogue, Simpson’s star Nancy Cartwright, Kris Jenner, Paul Rudd, and many more.

Announcing his departure, Will wrote on Instagram: “As they say in showbiz, it’s a WRAP! After 4 and a half amazing years – I’ve taken the tough decision to leave from my Saturday morning show on Capital XTRA to focus on new opportunities elsewhere in broadcast & digital media. My love for radio started 12 years ago in 2012 when I joined my student radio station in Leicester, then went on to hospital radio in Harrow and a local FM station in Watford – so ending up on Capital XTRA as my first job in commercial radio has been a blast & a real blessing.

“Alongside my Saturday morning show I’ve hosted Sunday afternoons, covered the Breakfast show and my earlier listeners will remember when I use to bring you guys the Love Island interviews and gossip… even a reunion show! This job kept my spirits high during lockdown, through Black Lives Matter – I got so comfortable with my listeners that I decided to open up about my sexuality for the first time ever on air (even though we knew the closet I was in was see through & made of glass ) But it was an amazing moment! While my journey at XTRA is done, the Will Njobvu journey has only just begun. You can tune into my final show this Saturday from 9am to 1pm – many many thanks.”
