US singer Cassie is reportedly looking to make a comeback in music following the downfall of her ex-boyfriend Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who allegedly abused her for years
Cassie is reportedly planning to resurrect her music career, which was previously hindered by her ex-boyfriend and alleged abuser Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs for over two decades.
The disgraced rapper Combs, 54, is currently incarcerated after being charged with numerous sex trafficking and racketeering offences following his arrest on September 16. As it stands, he will remain in jail until his trial in May 2025.
The singer of ‘Me & U’, Cassie, 38, played a crucial part in Combs’ downfall after she accused him of repeated physical abuse and rape in a shocking $30million lawsuit last November. Now, Cassie is reportedly making a music comeback as Diddy remains behind bars.
“Cassie is considering making a comeback to music now that Diddy is behind bars and some of the executives who were his lackeys are resigning. She couldn’t have imagined her career would have been stalled in the way it was when her first album came out, but she has so many unreleased records that she wants to release if the timing and business is right,” an insider shared.
“Her collaborators have been informed of this, so the royalty splits have been agreed,” they added to Mail Online. This revelation follows Cassie, whose real name is Cassie Ventura, making changes to a track titled ‘Into It’ in May this year, which she had initially registered with Universal Music back in 2010.
In 2006, a year before they started their relationship, Cassie signed to Combs’ label Bad Boy Records to release her debut single ‘Me & U’. That same year, she released her self-titled, and first and only, album. Then, between 2008 and 2009, Cassie launched three singles; Official Girl featuring Lil Wayne, Must Be Love featuring Combs, and Let’s Get Crazy featuring Akon.
After a hiatus of four years, she then unveiled her debut mixtape RockaByeBaby in 2013, before finally parting ways with Combs’ Bad Boy Records in 2019. Her lawsuit vividly detailed how he allegedly drugged her, intimidated her and coerced her into having sex with male sex workers in his presence throughout their relationship.
Combs settled the case just one day later. A settlement was reached between Diddy and Cassie. His lawyer at the time said that this was not an admission of guilt.
In March, shocking CCTV footage surfaced, depicting Combs violently assaulting Cassie at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles hotel in 2016. Combs was seen pursuing her down the corridor before seizing her at the back of the head and hurling her to the ground.
Cassie responded to the disturbing video in a statement, which read: “Thank you for all of the love and support from my family, friends, strangers and those I have yet to meet. The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning.
“Domestic Violence is the issue. It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past.”
